The ¢harity is governed by its constitution and is a FouThlalh)n charitab￿ Incorporated Organisation.
Apart from the first charity trustees, all trusiees are app(M'nted for a te￿ of three years by a resolub'on
passed at a properly convened meeting of the chanty trustees.
The charity is managed and run by the trustees, and are no paid $tsff members. There are
several volLbnteer5 who work with the trustees on an ad hoc basis.

To relieve the povety of families with children who are living within the SeverK)aks district and
Dartlord or are otherwise clients of Kent Chiklren's Services at Kent County Council. specifically
families who do not have the resources to pn)Vhle thefftselves with the nompl things of life which
most people lake for granted. by
providing itenks including bul not limrted to fumrture, bedding. ch)thing, foc*J. fuel. heating
appliances, washing machines and frhjges or by providing grants lo purchase these rtems.

entertainffent for children.

financing any other iteN*, seNices or facilibes that the trustees agree should be provided lo
bring the qualty of life of the beneficiaries to a reasonable standard.
Thè main activities undertaken for the publtc benefft in relation to these obj'ects are
The purchase of beds and bedding. basic furnitu￿ and white goots, whether new or second
hand. Where appropriate donated second hand items are also provided.
The purchasè of clothing, nappies. basic baby equipment, cleaning equipffenl and products.

The purchase of food. Much of the non*erishable food we supply L8 donated, and we fund
the wt and specffically peri8hable foods.
Payment for children's groups and classes, particulaty where these are therapeutic andlof
prèvent a child ￿Ing isolated on grounds of poverty.
Payment for school unifomi, shoes. bags and equipm&nt and travelling costs to schcol where
no altemab've is available that can be funded by the famity or statutory service8.
In all cases the Iruslees have had regard to the guKlance issued by the Chanty Commission on public
benefit.
The Charity does not give cash grants to families. and all a¢tivths are uThJertaken in conjunctw)n wth
and through the interr￿dIary of V4Èsl Kent Children's SeNices.
The Charity benefits grealty from the support of the local ¢4)mmunity. tM)th in volunteering their lime
and making financial donations, but also in supptying the charity wilh s￿Ond hand items and ensuring
they are in a g¢))d Condition to be donated, purchasing food Suppl￿S, and providin9 the charity with
advice and support on a range of tssues.

Achievements and rforniance
The tNstees raise the fiJnding for the work to be undertaken Irom three sour¢es'. individual and
corporate donations, donations from other organisatKsns and grants. Ir$ 2024-2025, the trustees
decided to review and amend their classffieation of grants and donatkJns frorn organisation5 to
provide additional clarity in the accounts. The trustees dKI not appty for any grants in 2024-2025 but
received the remaining balance of a 2-year grant from Kent Communty Foundation.
The trustees 81so worked to raise awa￿ne$S wthin the IcKal community, reSu￿.n9 in many individual
donations to the charity. Further financial details may be ft￿nd in the annual accounts.
I trustees worked to develop thè pool of Volunteers willing to as$ist wilh the workload {part4cularfy
important as the charity has no paid $taffj. This included buikling relations with local businesses and
Communty groups.
The charity met 235 referrals in 2024-25 arKI spent £87,490 helping families in need. In addition to
this, the ¢harity also provided 385 Christrnas gifts for chiklren wjents'fied by the social work teams. and
182 Christmas food parcels for their families.

Reserves
Trustees have agreed that reserves of 44 months of expendlture should be malntalned elther In the
current account or an instant access savings account split as follows: up to £,3C(M) in the current
account and 4-6 months, avera8e expenditure in an instant access savings account.
Any other funds in excess of this can be trdnsferred to a saving5 account with a maximum of I
month's notice. Account balances should be regularty reviewed and transfers between accounts
made as needed on a timety basis.

The charity has no funds in deficiL
The charity's principal sources of fijnds are grants from grant-making bc*Jies and businesses and
individual donalhM5. The chanty occasionalty organises fundraising events and raffles when needed.
The charity has been fortunate enough to raise enough funds from these 90urces to enable it to t￿et
all the refeTrals made to it that were found to be consistent with its objects.
The Charity has decided not to invest funds in inveslments other than savings accounts as outlined
above.
