person festival in December 2022. Our
partners at BFI Film Audience network warned
us that all film acivity was showing lower than
usual audience numbers, so for the second
year in a row, we maintained a modest scale of
the festival (fewer venues, fewer screenings)
compared to our pre-pandemic activity.
Audiences were indeed lower than we hoped
but we reduced costs – for instance we did not
invite any guests to appear in person, using
only zoom Q&A, which reduced travel and
accommodation expenditure. We were
pleased to return a small surplus which has
been assigned to support the next festival in
2023.
Evaluation forms completed by members of
the audience show a high degree of
satisfaction with both the content (films, stand-
up comedy as well as Q&As following events)
as well as the venues.|
