Structure, Governance and Management
Little Treasures is a registered charity with the charity commissions England and Wales since 18 May 2018, registered charity number 1178397. Little Treasures is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO).
Objectives and activities
The objective of the CIO is for public benefit:
-
Relieve the needs of children and young autistic people and their parents, carers and siblings by providing facilities for play and recreation in the interests of social welfare, in a safe secure environment and by providing support and practical advice to parents and carers.
-
The promotion of social inclusion among parents and carers of autistic children who are socially excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of their child’s condition by providing advice, guidance and general support and recreational facilities in the interest of social welfare with the objective of improving their conditions of life.
Public benefit statement
The Trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit as published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales. In setting our objectives and planning activities, our Trustees have given consideration to the public benefit and in particular to the relief of the needs of young autistic people and their families.
The team
All volunteers and trustees also live and work in the areas that we provide support. Little treasures are made up of dedicated parents and carers, who are all passionate trustees and volunteers.
All trustees and volunteers are either autistic themselves, parents of autistic people or extended family of autistic people. All trustees and volunteers have firsthand lived experience of raising a young person who is autistic or living as an autistic person themselves.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment, that’s inclusive and accessible for families of autistic children. In the hope that this allows them opportunities that they may not have had and allows them to enjoy family time together without judgment. We also support whole families, parents, carers and any extended family members by providing family friendly activities that are inclusive to everyone.
How we achieve this:
-
Conducting online surveys to our families and speaking to them in person to find out what they would like to do.
-
Providing a wide range of groups and activities that can cater for all ages and abilities.
-
Offering activities and groups that are at a subsided rate or free.
-
Signpost families to other safe and supportive organisations so they can receive additional support.
-
Minimise our criteria restrictions, removing age and postcode barriers, where funding is Page 4
-
specific for areas, we will utilise other funding making sure that families who aren’t in the bracket can still attend and get support.
-
Continue to offer peer support groups for all ages and abilities.
