- Objectives and Activities
Friends of Essex & London Homeless (FOELH) is a volunteer-led charity committed to supporting individuals and families experiencing homelessness, poverty, and hardship across Essex and London.
Our objectives are:

To relieve poverty and hardship

To provide essential items including food, clothing, and toiletries
-
To support vulnerable individuals with dignity, compassion, and respect
-
To reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing
We achieve this through direct outreach, community engagement, and the provision of essential supplies to those most in need.
- Activities and Achievements
During the year, FOELH continued to deliver consistent and vital frontline support across both London and Essex.
London Outreach – Charing Cross (Weekly)

Average of 130–140 hot meals served per session

Distribution of drinks, fresh fruit, clothing, toiletries, and essentials

Support delivered in a safe, welcoming, and community-focused environment
Essex Outreach – Grays (Weekly)

Weekly food bank support tailored to individual and family needs

Distribution of approximately 30+ food parcels per week
-
Additional support including hot food, clothing, and essential items
Additional Support Provided

Warm clothing, coats, and footwear

Toiletries and hygiene products

Sleeping bags and seasonal essentials

Pet food
-
Children’s treat bags and family support
Across both locations, the charity supports over 200 individuals and families weekly.
- Volunteer Contribution
FOELH is entirely volunteer-led, with no paid staff.
Estimated volunteer contribution:

The trustees confirm compliance with Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011.

FOELH operates as a non-funded charity relying on donations and community support.
6. Reserves Policy
Minimal reserves are maintained with funds used promptly.

The charity is governed by trustees with day-to-day operations run by volunteers.

Risks include demand, funding reliance, volunteer capacity, and operational space.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF
FRIENDS OF ESSEX & LONDON HOMELESS
For the year ended 31 May 2025
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 May 2025, which are set out in the accompanying documents.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other
than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
