Objectives and Activities

Objectives and Activities
SORP
reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 Our purpose is to relieve the needs of children suffering
from childhood cancers and histiocytosis and support
these children through the provision of gifts and activities
to enhance their physical, emotional and psychological
health, ease suffering and provide comfort.
We also raise awareness about childhood cancer, in
particular histiocytosis, and provide support and
information to families.
Summary of the main activities
in relation to those purposes for
the public benefit, in particular,
the activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
We have not had any activity this year but have in the
background worked on a soft toy gifting initiative for
children on the cancer ward. We collaborated with
Leicester Royal Infirmary Ward 27 to trial our soft toy with
great feedback from the Play Team regarding how the soft
toy can be used to promote mental, physical and
emotional well being.
We plan to promote and donate further soft toys
nationwide in 2024.
We also continued to post out our Super Gift boxes as
requested by families with children who have cancer. This
has proven to be most successful in providing comfort
during treatment.
We have continued to raise awareness by sharing our
personal story about histiocytosis and created leaflets
and charity fundraising packs which will be used to
distribute to fundraisers and businesses to gain further
support and awareness.
Statement confirming whether
the trustees have had regard to
the guidance issued by the
Charity Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 All the trustees have reviewed the guidance, and this has
been considered when planning the charity’s work for the
year ahead.

Achievements and Performance

SORP
reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to the
circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a whole.
Para 1.20 Our soft toy initiative for relieving anxiety has received
much praise and positive feedback with nationwide
hospital teams requesting the charity toy to be used on
their wards and in the community. We have reached
further childrens hospitals and expanded our donations
on children’s wards through the whole of the UK - this is
something we are extremely proud of and will be sending
out the donations soon.
Our continued links with the play specialists at Leicester
Royal Infirmary has allowed us to trial our new toy and
receive direct feedback with how beneficial the anti
anxiety elements are and how the toy has been used in
therapy. The play team expressed such great feedback
and want to use it throughout the children’s hospital.
The interest in our soft toy has been widespread and the
demand has exceeding what we expected meaning that
this may be an avenue to pursue further as we have been
made aware of the lack of funding for soft toys in hospital
despite the hospital staff telling us how positive an
impact they make on the ward.
