AudStorfs responsibllitles for tho audlt of the financial ststements
Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements as a whole
are free from material misstaternent, whether due to frauil or error. ond to Issue an auditorfs ￿port
that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance but is not a guarantee
that an audit conducted in accordance with1SA5 IUKI will always detect a rnaterial misstatement when
It exists. Misstatement5 can arise from fraud or error and are conside￿d material rf, Indivldually or in
the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to Snfluence the economic declslons of user5 taken
on the basls of these financlal ststements.
Irregularities, including fraud, are instances of non-compliance with laws and regulations. We deslgn
procedure5 in line with our responsibilities, outllned above, to detect material mi55tatements in
respect of Irregularltles, Includlng fraud. The extent to whlch our procedures are capable ol deterting
Irregularities, including fraud is detailed below:
The charitable company is required to comply with charity law and, based on our knowledge
of theiractivities, we identtfied that the legal requirement to accurately account for restricted
funds was of key slEnlflcance.
We gained an understanding of how the charltable company complled with their leBal and
regulatory framework, including the requ1￿ment to properly accovnt for restricted funds,
through discussions with management and a ￿VIeW of the documented policies, procedure$
and conirols.
The audit team, which is experienced in the audlt of charftles. considered the charitable
company susceptibility to materlal mlsstatement and how fraud may occur. Our
considerations incluéed the risk of management override.
Our approach was to check that all restricted income was properly identified and separately
accounted for and to ensure that only valid and appropriate expenditure was charged to
restTiCted funds. This included ￿VIeWIng journal adlustments and unusual trdnsactions.
A further description of our responsibillties for the audlt of the flnanclal statements is located al the
