Objectives
The objectives of the Charity are .
to encourage a Christian partnership with the Church in Papua New Guinea
to assist the maintenance and extension of the work of the Anglican Province of Papua New
Guinea in all or any such ways as the House of Bishops of the Province of Papua New Guinea
for the time being shall approve
to forward the interest of the Anglican Province of Papua New Guinea within the United
King(lom and elsewhere in all such ways as are ￿￿thIn the competence of the Committee.
Activities, achievements and perfomiance
Donations from supporters in 2021 were more than double those in 2020. Many of these were as a
result of an appeal in our Easter Newsleiter for support at Newton Theological College and to supwrt
the Diocesan Health Authorities with their Covid -19 programmes. Sin￿ their GovemTnent hjnding has
been cut.
As a result of this we were able to send donations of £37.641 to ACPNG.
£10,800 to Newton Theological College :_
£5,500 to support the training of 11 theologi￿1 students wÉth £5(N) each. Most of this furKJing
coming from Parishes in Scotland.
£4,300 to help the daily operation of the College's slaff and students and
£1,000 to provide a sewing machine for Ihe families of 6 gradualing students and 2 staff wives.
£505 to provide a sewing mathine for the families of 4 graduating students at Kerina College.
£23,500 for Covid -19 Support -_
£2,700 to each of the 5 Diocesan Health Authorilies and an additional £10,000 to Aipo Rongo
Diocese where there were particular difficutties in reaching the Highlands areas.
Due to Covid -19 restiictions. Coynmittee meetings were held by Zoom and pattnership working with
ACPNG was rnaintained through email and telephone communication. Currently there are no
PNGGP sponsored personnel from the UK working with ACPNG.
Three Newsletters were produced for UK supporters and shared with ACPNG and their other
overseas partner agencies. The Newsletter is pr(XIu￿ in email format and as a hard copy since
many of our supporter group have indicated they prefer this. The Charity has an active website and
Facebook page.
A Supporter Day was held in November 2021. by Zoom. which included some video cbps from PNG
and was an opportunity to talk about how some of the money sent to ACPNG had been spent. This
included details of the plans for the Covid -19 Church Partnership Emergency Highlands Projecl to
which we had donated £10.000. A recording of highlights from the day has been put on the website.
Financial Review and Reserves Policy
At the end of the year our reserves (unrestricted funds) V￿re E36,604.12020 £74,560). Our reserves
policy requires us to cary reserves sufficient to safeguard costs of any staff. In addition, the Trustees
consider it prudent that unrestricted funds should be sufficient to provide one yearfs operating
expenses. During 2021, £2,212 was spent on administration as we were unable to go to our office in
St Andrew's House but we believe we hold more than suffioent reserves to safeguard the needs of
PNGCP.
Plans for f￿Ure periods
We plan to continue sending money to the Anglican projects, parishes and Dioceses of PNG in 2022.
We will continue to develop our website and our Facebr)ok page, to increase our profile and
knowledge of our work. Geographical, age and gender dats on our supporters is now on our website.
It is anticipated that the PNGCP Committee will meet with the Bishops from PNG when they wme to
the Lambeth conferen￿ in August 2022.
We will continue our promotional actiwties within the UK and initiate a prcxJramme to welcome and
support ACPNG personnel on development vissts to the UK when it is safe to do so.
