TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

Charitable Incorporated Organisation principal address

Longstone Hope Cove Kingsbridge TQ7 3HY

The Trustees of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation for the period were as follows:-

Mr Graham Philips Chair (appointed 10 January 2018)
Mr Ashley Murison Treasurer (appointed 5 March 2021)
Ms Elizabeth Brimacombe (appointed 10 January 2018)
Ms Joanna Sealey Secretary (appointed 10 January 2018)
Mrs Susan Illingworth (appointed 16 January 2020)

The Foundation was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and its Constitution adopted on 8 May 2018.

Structure, Governance and Management

The Trustees meet regularly, usually bi- monthly, or whenever matters arise that need swift discussion. The day to day affairs of the Charity are organised by the Trustees, although others are consulted from time to time when specific knowledge is required.

The Trustees are appointed or reappointed annually at the Annual General Meeting and were originally selected for their knowledge of the local area.

All Trustees give their time voluntarily and received no remuneration or other benefits during the period.

Objects and Activities

The Charity was formed to support the activities of The Hope Cove Harbour Commissioners, particularly with regard to the preservation and refurbishment of the current Breakwater. If this structure were to be breached there would be serious problems for not only the Harbour, and all its activities, but also the village of Hope and the surrounding area.

During the year the Charity received a number of donations from philanthropists, keen to assist the Charity in its objectives. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the Charity has been unable to hold fundraising events to raise additional funding but the Trustees are hopeful that they will be able to hold these events in the future.

TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT

Achievements and Performance

The Charity is still in negotiations with various interested agencies to formulate a plan of action of the ensuing years. In particular the Environment Agency, who are concerned from the aspect of a possible serious flood. They are in the process of producing an in-depth analysis of probable permutations, bearing in mind global climate change, rising sea levels and increasing wind and tide strengths. The pandemic has delayed matters but the Trustees are confident these negotiations will progress in the near future.

Financial Review

The funds raised by the Charity amounted to £2,590 (2024: £3,595). Total costs of £45 (2024: £119) were incurred, leaving funds held in the bank account of £55,665 (2024: £53,120).

The financial situation at present is healthy, with all income from donations and fundraising activities where possible. A significantly greater amount will be needed in the long run, but at the moment we are hoping to be able to assist the Harbour by providing funds for the necessary surveys etc. that need completing before a plan of action is formulated.

Declaration

The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ Report above.

Signed on behalf of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation’s Trustees.

Mr G Phillips Chairman
