SEPTAGON CHARITY REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENOED 5 APRIL 2025 The Trustees present their report with the financial staternents of the charity for the year ended 5 April 2025. The Trustees have adopled the provision5 of Accounting and Reporting by Charities". Slalement ol RecorHmended Practicè 8pplicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordan￿ with United Kingdom A¢counting S18ndards Iunited Kingdom Generally Accepted Aecounling practi￿}. 08JECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and alms We have tried lo follow a number of principle5 in running our charity. The first is to keep the costs down as much as possible. So, we havè no website. offices, special stationery, or employees, and no rnore than three trustees. Time and money spent tsn adtninistration means less tima and money going lo those we might help. The second is lo try and help charities which arè themselves vulnerable and fearful ol Closu￿. In fact, Septagon has given to well-established and lo less well-established charities, but in a few cases wo have been pleased lo have given lo charities that might have closed down without our help. Thè third is to try and keep a close rtslalionship with whatever chaiity we support. This is not always easy. Charity wotkeis are nearly always very dedicated and very busy. and one is fearful of encroaching too tnuch on their time. Their work is often confidential. so that one cannot be brought in as an observer. We have lo prefer local charitiès over ones rther way, tsthetWi5e there would be more travel than we could manage. Fourthly, we have adhered lo the basic Seplagon 'fflission statement,, to fund local organisations cornrnilled to helping the poor and vulnerable in our society. Over the years we have obseNed that while making grants which vary greatly in size, and to organisations which are quite disp8iat8 in function. a common fèature is the need to create, or try lo create, a sense of comtnunity in the increasingly fragmented world in which we are live ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities From its In￿PtIOn and up to April 2025. Septagon has made some 107 separate awards to over 40 different organisations. The average award size is about £20,000. bul they have varied from £1,(X)O at the ltswer end to lin one case) 8n award of £200.000. Total awards since In￿ptioN add up lo over £2 3 million. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE ANO MANAGEMENT Governing document The charity is registèied as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ICIOI and is controlled by its constitution, as defingd by the Companies Aet 2006 and Charities Act 2011.
