LEARN has continued to support Shree Gyanjyoti School, supplementing the school’s own budget with funding for scholarships, uniforms and other equipment for low caste children.  The charity has also enabled the school to increase the staff salaries and help initiate a pension scheme.  The school has continued to go from strength to strength and has again achieved very well academically in comparison with other schools in the area. 

Because of the restrictions imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the sale of goods has been meagre and income from talks has been virtually non-existent.  Fortunately, donations have been excellent, especially in the pre-Christmas season when we produced gift certificates which many people purchased for Christmas presents.  The net result was an excess of expenditure over income of only £300. 

As a result of the substantial legacy received in 2018, we are in a favourable position financially. The bulk of this money is kept in a separate savings account and will be called upon when deemed necessary by the trustees to supplement the ‘normal’ income of the charity.
