## **Princes Risborough Lighthouse 2020 Chair’s Report** The aim of Lighthouse is to provide an opportunity for children, young people and adults to learn more about God’s amazing love for us and understand the difference Jesus can make to our lives. Year on year we aim to grow, to reach out to more children, young people and adults and to invite them to join with us in a lifelong journey with Jesus. ## **Key roles for this year:** **Chair Vicky Bant Vice Chair Elyna Kibble Secretary Elaine Hassall Treasurer Linda Belsham Safe Guarding Officer Rev Pat Kerr** ## **Overview** Princes Risborough Lighthouse continues to grow year on year with Little Lighthouse and the 4- 5s age group growing by the largest margin each year. In 2019 we had 492 children register and 167 of volunteers. With the pressures of the COVID pandemic, a decision was taken in April 2020 not to run Princes Risborough Lighthouse. All meetings were run virtually via Zoom and fundraising ceased. The normal donations which we would have received from the Churches also ceased. Working with Lighthouse Central, we assisted them in working towards a ‘virtual Lighthouse’ during the week 27 – 31 Jul. The theme and teaching was Hidden Heroes and the day started at 10am with an hour-long LIVE show full of songs, actions, messy games, drama, craft, stories, and prayer! Once the LIVE show had finished there were various activities available to watch throughout the day and a craft activity for the children to complete at home. At 4pm Lighthouse Central went LIVE again with more music and games. Positive feedback was received into Lighthouse Central. ## **Finance** As a result of cancelling Lighthouse, our financial level of support was dramatically reduced but not to the point that it would bring about insolvency. Indeed, we donated £1000 towards Virtual Lighthouse and parents donated directly to Lighthouse Central. Our Reserves have been maintained and I will be ensuring that going into 2021, Princes Risborough Lighthouse will proceed in the best interests of our charity and in line with COVID restrictions. I am aware of the need to look to create a plan for 2021 and ensure that any decision taken does not have a detrimental effect on the overall outcome. ## **Overall** Lighthouse is a week that really does make a difference in so many people’s lives, helpers and children alike. As the Chair, I believe that the Virtual Lighthouse helped to reach out to those children who would have been able to attend Princes Risborough Lighthouse and to others across the UK. Virtual Lighthouse reached out to so many families that Lighthouse Central are planning to run such sessions throughout the year.
