## **Walsham Le Willows Sports Club CIO Registered Charity No:- 1178033 Trustees’ Report 1st July 2019 – 30th June 2021** ## **Trustees:- Michael Powles, John Holden, Catriona Hubbard, Howard Gilbert, Trevor Pollard, Trevor Roberts and Ian Campbell** The daily routine of the Sports Club is managed on behalf of the trustees by a committee that comprises four of the trustees plus representatives from each sporting section of the club. This report covers the second year’s activities of the CIO which have been singularly impacted on due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The hopeful predictions in last year’s report that meetings would again be practical to physically hold and not conducted by zoom alone, did, of course, not materialise and for the sake of practicality, trustees have regularly joined the management meetings to keep themselves abreast of development at the Club. It seems amazing to report that, during such a difficult time as the pandemic particularly for sport, that the Club has moved forward both financially and physically. The support given from Government in terms of grants is clear from the figures and the good relationship between the Sports Club and sporting foundations such as football has meant that facilities have continued to be improved during the period enabling greater use to be made not just by mainstream sports but also by the community. The internal restructuring inside the clubhouse and fold back dividers has meant that simultaneous activities can be undertaken such as Yoga, Otago, carpet bowls as well as providing meeting room space. The open space when dividers are folded back has also enabled larger gathering for social activities such as section dinners to take place as well as providing a welcoming environment for parishioners to use for wakes and children parties. These offer income streams beyond those we have relied on in the past such as bar takings to increase our viability. The trading company, WLWSC Ltd, that we were required to establish by the Commissioners is still functioning well below the capacity we might have projected in normal times and therefore the charge made by the CIO to WLWSC for leasing the bar was reduced to £6,000 per annum for the financial year reported. It is anticipated this will rise to £12,000 in the year 2021-2022. The sporting sections of the CIO have flourished despite the pandemic restrictions with particular success to report at both the top and bottom of the age profile. Youth football and cricket have grown their participation both in terms of numbers and coaching whilst the walking sports for seniors have good support and have provided a distinct aspect of mental benefit as well as the physical one. It remains an objective of the trustees to widen the range of recreational activity on offer for the community and to play a full part in what makes Walsham Le Willows and surrounding district such a desirable place to live.
