TAC Annual Report of the Trustees 2023/24

In the financial year 23/24 there had been considerable discussion between the trustees and the management committee. the management committee are considering whether to bring in a payment system for the coaches as self-employed persons are the trustees have rejected this idea at the moment because it has not been well thought out or funded. The management committee have agreed to bring back proposals in the following financial year 24/25 for this matter to be considered not only by the trustees but by the club membership. The trustees have therefore met on a number of occasions to discuss this contentious issue but this has led facts to greater cohesion between the trustees and the management committee.

The trustees of approved which are where needed for improvements to the athletics track as Tom Ridge Borough Council have refused to provide further funding and so that issue is now down to the athletics club and Tonbridge School the trustees agreed to the payment of £20,000 in order to improve the track and mainly the throwing circles which needed improvement for safety purposes.

and AC/DC and definitely not you the athletics club is also negotiating to buy a second-hand minibus to transport athletes to meeting as the cost of hiring buses is now exorbitant. The trustees have approved this purchase which will fall into the next financial year. The club has thrived this year and has been involved several leagues as well as providing individual athletes to represent Great Britain at all ages including under 17 and Masters.

The trustees have urged the management committee to look at the rather lengthy waiting list for the younger athletes and indeed there have been great strides in this regard.

The trustees regularly review the policies in place for the club. These policies were improved very recently and so the task of reviewing those policies has been much reduced. There will be changes of trustees at the February 2025 AGM due to 1 of the trustees becoming the chairman of the club. The trustees are confident that the financial controls in place and the efficiency of the Treasurer and membership secretary is very reassuring.

The trustees approved the accounts before they were adopted at the AGM although expenditure seeded income by £4000 this was budgeted for due to the costs of improving the track trustees always conscious of the level of reserves and are pleased that steps are being taken to improve the amenities for the club membership of 1000 members.
