WAVE was founded by Shaimaa Mohamed Hassan in 2016 and was registered as CIO in 2018 for advancing and promoting human rights. - WAVE Trustees confirm that the CIO's annual report and financial statements for the year ended 31st March 2022 comply with the current requirements of the CIO's governing documents and the Statement of Recommended Practice according to the Charity Commission recommendation. All trustees gave their time voluntarily and received no benefits from the charity. **TAR** 2 January 2021 - trustees’ consideration of WAVE works in collaboration and networks with similarly focused organisations in the UK. WAVE works in cooperation and networks with - major risks and the system and other similarly focused groups. The charity mostly runs by volunteers. - procedures to manage them. Eliminating infringements of human rights.| |---|---| **TAR** 3 January 2021 WAVE strives to defend and promote human rights enshrined in United Nations charters, international laws, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and covenants on civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights. Our trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the charity commission on public benefit. Trustees followed the good practice guidance to run the charity effectively and comply with the legal duties. WAVE trustees and volunteers continued to work to meet the charity’s objectives and the need of beneficiaries. WAVE team and volunteers organised a number of events and developed and delivered training programmes and activities to educate the public and raise awareness of human rights issues in the UK and abroad to promote public support for human rights. We collaborated with other similar organisations to deliver activities online and face-to-face. Some of the activities delivered include: Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) Arabic English Language and Culture Exchange weekly sessions continued to play a key role in promoting mutual respect and understanding of different cultures. The sessions take place every Wednesday in an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and equal. The sessions help participants gain knowledge, skills and confidence to promote human rights, provide the group with a valuable counter-argument to negative stereotyping, and tackle problems like racism, Islamophobia, sexism, and extremism. These sessions also aimed to help the integration of refugees and migrants participants. With the support of Health Foundry, we moved our sessions from online to a very friendly and welcoming venue at the Health Foundry – Westminster. Celebrating Eid With a Message of Solidarity – Event. Organised by the WAVE team and supported by Coin Street social enterprise. After a long time spent apart due to the pandemic, the event allowed people from all different faiths and backgrounds to get together to celebrate cultural diversity and take a stand against racism. The event took place at Colombo Centre – Southwark on July 2021. The day was full of activities, games, Middle Eastern music & food. The event included a solidarity action with Black football players Rashford, Sancho and Saka, who were subject to online racial abuse after England lost the UEFA Euro final. WAVE works in collaboration with Southwark R.E.A.C.H. (Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage) and other similar local organisations to raise the profile of BAME groups in Southwark, advance equality of opportunity, and promote inclusivity and community cohesion in the borough. WAVE team and volunteers organised several events and activities to promote human rights and peacebuilding education. Including Raising awareness of humanitarian and human rights issues surrounding the Ukraine conflict. Promote public support for Ukrainian people affected by conflict, including refugees, and ways to take action, for example, through #StandWithUkraine. **TAR** January 2021 4 WAVE team organised an International Women's Day event – in March 2022 to celebrate women's achievements and the progress made towards achieving gender equality around the world. The event included taking action and support the #BreakTheBias campaign theme. WAVE team continued to support individuals from the BAME community, including women and young people who have experienced racism, discrimination, and anti-Muslim hate. WAVE collaborated with Tell Mama and other similarly focused organisations. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** WAVE is run mostly by volunteers. Our volunteers’ contribution includes; planning and organising our events, delivering workshops and training, Marketing, managing our website and social media.
