Background: 

Wave of Peace (WAVE) formerly Women’s Action Against Violent Extremism - WAVE is volunteer led charity. WAVE was founded by Shaimaa Mohamed Hassan in 2016 and it was registered as CIO in 2018 for the advancement and promotion of human rights. 

- WAVE Trustees confirm that the annual report and financial statements of the CIO for the year ended 31th March 2021 comply with the current requirements, of the CIO’s governing documents and the Statement of Recommended Practice accordance to the Charity Commission recommendation. All trustees give their time voluntarily and received no benefits from the charity. 

 trustees’ consideration of Wave of Peace (WAVE) works in collaboration and networks with major risks and the system and similarly focused organisations in UK. The charity mostly runs by procedures to manage them. volunteers. Wave of Peace works in collaboration and networks with other similarly focused groups.

- Constant review of the risks the charity may face; 

- • The establishment of systems and procedures to mitigate those risks identified in the review; and 

- The implementation of procedures designed to minimise any potential impact on the charity 

- Regular awareness training for WAVE staff 

- • In response to COVID-19 Pandemic, risk assessment has been reviewed and actions were taken to mitigate any associated risk.

To promote human rights (as set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent United Nations conventions and declarations) throughout the world by all or any of the following means:

|Summary of the main activities<br>undertaken for the public benefit<br>in relation to these objects<br>(include within this section the<br>statutory declaration that trustees<br>have had regard to the guidance<br>issued by the Charity<br>Commission on public benefit)|Our trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the charity<br>commission on public benefit.Despite the challenges faced by the<br>charity due to Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdowns WAVE trustees and<br>volunteers continued to work to meet the charity’s objectives and the need<br>of beneficiaries. Trustees Followed the good practice guidance to run the<br>charity effectively and comply with the legal duties.<br>WAVE team and volunteers adapted working practices to address new<br>circumstances including delivering more services remotely, delivering<br>online sessions and workshops, collaborating more with other local<br>charities and community groups.<br>Unfortunately, due to coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions we had to<br>postpone our face-to-face activities including Arabic English Language<br>and Cultural Exchange weekly sessions. However, we responded by<br>making greater use of technology and changed the way of the operations<br>by delivering our sessions online.<br>WAVE team worked to support women and young people from BAME<br>community who have experienced anti-Muslim hate, racism and<br>discrimination, and collaborated with Tell Mama and other similarly<br>focused organisations.<br>On August 2020, WAVE team organised Eid Picnic event to celebrate<br>cultural diversity, and to promote mutual respect and understanding.<br>WAVE volunteers worked in collaboration with community groups in<br>Bankside and around Southwark. Covid-19 safety measures were in place.<br>The event brought together people of different faiths and beliefs, and<br>provided the opportunity to people who were not travel to celebrate<br>Eid with their families.<br>WAVE team and volunteers organised a number of online events, and<br>activities to educate the public and raise awareness of human rights issues<br>including online sessions on COVID-19 and Human Rights.|

WAVE is run mostly by volunteers. Our volunteers’ contribution includes; planning and organising our events, delivering workshops and training, Marketing, managing our website and social media.

- We helped   participants to gain knowledge, skills and confidence to promote human rights and delivered a number of workshops on COVID-19 and human rights. 

- Supported our participants to explore and take action to support human rights. 

- Developed local community response to stand against racism, extremism, and hate crimes. 

- We continued to deliver online English Arabic Language and Cultural Exchange sessions, we were able to bring diverse of people together which helped developing mutual respect and understanding of different cultures. These sessions also aimed to help the integration of refugees and migrants’ participants.
