AFRICAN CARIBBEAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (UK)

ANNUAL REPORT APRIL 2023 – 2024

SUMMARY OF REPORT:

In recognition of the amount of work that ACMA UK continued to do with its hubs and the growth of the membership body after the celebration of the 5[th] anniversary since its launch, the decision was made to form and recruit a National Committee. This would comprise individuals who were driven and dedicated to running the day-to-day activities of the charity, including keeping in touch with its members. They took up their posts in February 2023.

The individual hub members hosted a few events in their academic year, and national committee meetings were held to ensure any necessary support could be provided to them.

The charity has also paid for the website hosting, including domain name (Wix). The charity paid for Zoom Professional subscription (taken from a Trustee’s account but it is yet to be reimbursed for this year) in June, to allow for organisation of virtual meetings and events.

ACMA UK continued to work with one of the long-standing collaborative partners – Reach Society in their Careers Day represented by a member of the National committee.

AFRICAN CARIBBEAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (UK) IMPRESSION AND PLAN:

Although there has been no income in the year, the charity aims through the support of the National Committee, to seek financial sponsorship and support from larger organisations e.g. BMA, Medtronic, Edwards etc. to continue to support our aims and objectives.

One of the main events of the year that ACMA hopes to have, is a meet of all the hubs across the UK so that all hubs can appreciate how far and wide the national charity’s network reaches.

We hope to continue to recruit to our National Committee to allow smooth running of the charity’s administration, social media pages and communications with our many collaborating partners.
