AFRICAN CARIBBEAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (UK)

ANNUAL REPORT APRIL 2020 – 2021

SUMMARY OF REPORT:

Following redesign and review of aims and objectives of the charity, we used social media platforms to fundraise for the charity to help fund activity to meet our aims.

The charity paid a company (DesignHerd) to redesign the website and have design control of the social media accounts. The charity has also paid for the website hosting including domain name (Wix) and a social media calendar (ContentCory).

The charity also supports its branches financially if their application to the Trustee board is approved. The ACMA Southampton branch received monies totalling £60 to support their activities.

For the new financial year April 2021 – April 2022, the charity plans to apply for formal funding from sponsors e.g. BMA, MDU, Ethicon, Medtronic etc. to host a National conference in November 2022.

IMPRESSION AND PLAN:

Through public donations, we have been able to raise money for the charity to support our aims and objectives. We have identified the need for stable income to help support this, and achieved through public donations by direct debits.

This financial year, we hired a website developer and graphic designer to review and improve our social media platforms. This has enabled us to boost our online presence.

One of the main events of the year that ACMA hopes to have, is the National Conference and charity anniversary. We are in the process of financially planning the costs associated with this event, how we can meet them and the sponsors that we may approach for help.

We also aim for our income to increase through donations and pledges. We are in the process of increasing our trustee board to include members with a financial and accounting background to review our funding and accounts to ensure that we are open and transparent with the charity’s spending and accountable to our supporters and donors.
