BACKGROUND AND CONSTITUTION
The Cheam F¢wndation is a charity that exist$ ¢0 support present and futur¢ generations of pupils at Cheam
School. It was established in 2018 by Governors. st8ff and parents of Cheam School.
The Cheam Foundation was Inco￿}rated on 11 April 2018 as a Charitabl¢ In¢orporat¢d OrganisatÈon
registered with the Charity Commission (Registratioii Number 1177913).

The Cheam Foundation exists ¢0 CJlSUTe continuing investmcnt in the school's facilities and to provide vital
funding for life-changing, m¢ans tested Bursaries for children from low-ineome families. Tlie Chcam
Foundation helps tlie school to realise its umbilions and ntsk¢ a real difference for generations to come.
All ￿ndS raised are ring fenced and kcpt separate frotn main school finance and The Chexm Foundation acts 0$
a vehicle for collecting, holdinglinvesting and di.%p¢nsing sums donated for the benefit of the school.
ORGANISATION AND MANAGEMENT
There is an independent body of Trustecs compris¢d of Governors. parenls and past parcnts of the 8¢11001. Th¢
Trustees must hold Ht Ic4$1 3 ineetings pcr year. Cli¢ani School have been delegated responsibility of th¢
operations of'fiic Cl)eam Foundation by thc TNst¢es but are not remunerated by The Cheam Foundation.

ACTIVITIES AND FINANCIAL REVIEW
The Cheam Foundation has had a positive year and has made a valued contribution towurds th¢ s¢hool. as well
as continuing lo build a long-lasting 21umAi eoinmunity. In addiiion ¢0 tlie gifts and pledges rereiv¢d, tho Clieam
I'oundation increased th¢ numbcr of people wlio support its work by ottending evcnts. making individual
dortations 2nd making proviyion for tlie Foundation in their Wills.
The primory focus during 2022-2023 has been to rnise money for Tlie Ch&im Foundation Bursary Fund, in
order to enable more children from low-ii)come Families to Attend the school. The Cheam Foundation also
fJnan¢¢d a n¢iv facility in the 5¢hool grouiids called the "Year 8 Retreat" wliioli was Gompleled and its use by
¢urrent pupils in April 2023.
During the year gross in¢om¢ was £170,652. During the year, The Clieam Found81ion made grants {from
iiicon]e) of £87,461 directly to The Clieam School Education21 Trust, by wuy of paym¢nt for school fees for
t]wes Bursary recipient children. Tl)e Cheam Foundation also made a grant (from incomc) of £47,114 dire¢tly to
The Cheam School Educatio￿1 Trust to fAnancc tlie build of tl)e new"Y¢ar 8 Retreat" in the school ground5.
PLANS FOR THE FUTiJRE
The Cheam Foundation plans to continu¢ to rnise ￿llds to provide lif¢-¢han8ing Bursaries for children from
low-income back8rouT￿5, as well as fllndraise for Capital Projects, Bs alld when approved by the H¢admaster
Ind Governors, which are intended to extend the faciliti&s at th¢ school.

RELATED PARTY TRANSACTIONS AND CONNECTED ENTITIES
The Cheam Foundation salaries, operational costs and expenses were funded by Ch¢am School.
HESERVES
The purpose of The Cheam foundation is to support the 8¢hool by raising fimds for capital projects and
bursaries as notsd above. Its operational costs. are niet by Cheain S¢liool.
In addition to the general discreiionary fund, various sub funds have been set up for specifi¢ proj¢cls, for
example The Bursary Fund. In this way the Trustees can make sure thai donaiions are appli¢d for th¢ purpose
for which they were donated.
STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES RESPONSIBILITIES
The Trustees arc r¢sponsible for preparing t]ie Trus¢¢'ls Annual Report and the accounts (financial slat¢ments)
