## GISLINGHAM SILVER BAND CHAIRMAN'S REPORT  2023 

2020 We had to stop band practice and all engagements because of Covid 19 2021 The Trustees decided to to repair the band hut because we were no longer able practice in the school. Terry agreed to project manage this. I would like thank Terry for his time and hard work he has put in to renovating the band hut. I also thank Wayne for giving his time to update the electrics and I donated the extra parts that were needed. I thank Ken who gave a donation for the new flooring and thank all the volunteers for painting and cleaning. The only thing was to have an outside contractor repair the porch roof. We resumed practising in the summer six, at a time and increased as soon as we were aloud. The band marched at Botesdale for the Remembrance parade and played at a carol service at Thornham Magna but had to cancel playing at Yaxley Cherry Tree because of rising COVID numbers. 

2023 The band preformed at 10 engagements last year but it was the first year I can remember that the band was unable to lead parades on remembrance Sunday. I am glad we could provide cornet players for the Last Post and I would like to thank them. The trustees change the signatory's on the bank account it took over 14 months to resolve but we got there in the end. This how ever led to me having to pay bills from my own account I ended up paying £854.38 and will need to claim this back. More work has been done on the band hut we have added a mezzanine floor as a store for cases and unused instruments. I think this is a big improvement and would like to thank Terry again for his input.  Lastly can I thank Adrain as Musical Director for arranging music for a smaller band and trying to improve us each week. Thank you every one and I hope we all have an enjoyable year.
