CHAIRMAN’S REPORT APRIL 2021 TO MARCH 2022

We were very saddened to have the death of one of our founding Trustees, Dr Alan Matthews this year. He was a much respected Trustee and is very much missed.

During the early part of 2021, as a result of the continuing Covid outfall, we received a low referral rate of new patients to our 6 week art classes. However, towards the end of the year,as the Covid pandemic receded, new referrals began to be picked up.

The “follow on” classes, from previous attendees were all well supported throughout the year and the artwork produced by the attendees became ever more confident as new mediums were explored throughout the sessions, supported by the facilitators.

Dr Peter White maintained regular contact with the referring GP surgeries to ensure that pamphlets and referral materials were maintained and up to date. Some local associated health professional business’ (e.g physiotherapy clinics) held referral material detailing the referral pathway. This helped to broaden awareness of the local charity and what it could offer to patients.

Fund Raising: We continued to be supported through grants from the Mayor of Romsey and Test Valley Borough Council. The Romsey Round Table held a Carol Singing Concert on our behalf. A modest sum of money was raised through the sale of cards, the artwork of which was produced by one of the attendee patients.

During the year, we reviewed our Covid Precautions Protocols and found them to be adequate for our purposes.

We also reviewed our financial module and confirmed that the dual authorisation of all transactions was sound practice.

We are fortunate in being able to continue to hire rooms at a local centre in Romsey ensuring easy access for those attending.

We anticipate that 2022/23 will hold more challenges as we continue to cope with the aftermath of Covid, the increases in the cost of living and the difficulties of fund raising, but we have a faithful loyal team who give of their time willingly and cheerfully and who are always rewarded throughout the weeks, by the progress made by the participating patients.

Signed: Jill Wilson Chairman.
