This project provides food and drink for hospitalised patients who are without a family member to look after them. It is customary to have an attendant during a period of hospitalisation to provide meals to a patient. Patients who are in need of the meal provision from NRO are identified during hospital admission and a referral is made by nurses and/or hospital social workers to the cooks employed by the charity. The patients identified for this provision will receive meals and refreshments for the period of their hospitalisation. Locally these patients are described as destitute and as such receive the provision free of charge.
