The relief of sickness and the preservation of health among people living in low and middle income countries, including but not by way of limitation through the exchange of knowledge and the provision of education and **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its** resources. **governing document**

Nurses Reaching Out (NRO) has a project in Northern Uganda called 25:35. This project provides food and drink for hospitalised patients who are without a family member to look after them. It is customary to have an attendant during a period of hospitalisation to provide meals to a patient. Patients who are in need of the meal provision from NRO are identified during hospital admission and a referral is made by nurses and/or hospital social workers to the cooks employed by the charity. The patients identified for this provision will receive meals and refreshments for the period of their hospitalisation. Locally these patients are described as destitute and as such receive the provision free of charge. Without the **Summary of the main** meal and refreshment provision provided those patients without family or **activities undertaken for the** an attendant are at risk of at hunger and dehydration. **public benefit in relation to these objects (include within** Until August 2022 the charity had a second project which provided a **this section the statutory** baby kit to accompany the government maternity kit. The **had regard to the guidance** kits are delivered to medical centres with maternity facilities that have **issued by the Charity** partnered with NRO. An educational package accompanied the kits to **Commission on public** highlight the benefits of antenatal checks and to encourage pregnant **benefit)** women to attend these checks. The baby kit was received by mothers at the last antenatal check. Centres which have the kits have saw increasing numbers of women attending antenatal checks and deliveries increasing with good outcomes for mother and baby. In planning and prioritising our activities for this financial year, the trustees have reviewed the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission at our trustee meetings and ensured that we are in full compliance.

## Section D Achievements and performance

Nurses Reaching Out saw it’s monthly donations fall and attempts to gain **Summary of the main** grants were not successful. The financial income stabilised but the **achievements of the charity** Trustee’s needed to make a difficult decision as the regular income to the **during the year** charity would not support the work of both projects. The decision was to close the baby kits project for the time being and continue with the 25:35 NRO’s meal provision project. We are extremely grateful to those who have given financially to the charity over this past year. The charity aim is to reinstate the baby kit project when the financial provision improves.
