received planning permission and set about building a new shed to house more vintage vehicles and articles of interest belonging to the charity.
The majority of this period was spent concentrating on the progress of the new building and dealing with all the paperwork associated with doing so. This new building means we’re able to house more items (previously stored at a different location), and are able to have more space for visitors to navigate around the various vehicles etc.
Restorations still went ahead despite the construction of an additional building and the loss of our chairman – John Myers. We focused on completing work on long-term projects, the projects which reached completion during this period include:
-
Smith and Rodley steam crane - full restoration completed, including rebuilding the cab and painting (boiler refurbished in previous years)
-
Mechanical repair on an international D4 dozer
public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
-
Full refurbishment of an ‘Iron Horse’
-
Globe Pneumatic engine hoist – repaired and refurbed
-
Lister D stationary engine, mechanical refurb
The aims of the charity remain the same - restore and display a range of vintage vehicles, agricultural machinery and associated equipment - to show the importance of heritage, and create an educational resource for all ages.
We continue to attend local events and/or shows in the interest of displaying examples of historical vehicles to the public – during this period we attended the Yorkshire Wartime event over a weekend in August, taking our Diamond T, Scammell tank transporter and Scammell blockbuster for display and demonstrations. We were also asked to attend two funerals with some of our vehicles, to drive in the funeral procession as a tribute to those that had passed.
The trustees remain aware of their obligations for public benefit, as set out in guidance documents PB1, PB2 and PB3. Through attending shows and networking online we have also connected with other groups and organisations who have a shared interest – we hope to expand our numbers of museum visitors through liaising with these new contacts.

As with previous years, the efforts of the trustees have been enhanced by a small number of dedicated volunteers. These people have been especially useful since the completion of the new building which meant reorganising and moving lots of vehicles/equipment in order to create a better layout and more space.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
Our biggest achievement this year has been the completion of the new building, it has been a difficult year but this new addition means we are better able to organise and display the items belonging to the museum.
We continue to attend local events and/or shows in the interest of displaying examples of historical vehicles to the public – during this period we attended the Yorkshire Wartime event over a weekend in August, taking our Diamond T, Scammell tank transporter and Scammell blockbuster for display and demonstrations. We were also invited to attend two funerals with some of our vehicles, to drive in the funeral procession as a tribute to those that had passed.
Several restoration projects have been completed during this period, we have also made good progress in implementing a new layout and reorganising each shed after construction works were complete.
We hope to encourage more visitors in the near future, through our social media and online connections. We have also made steps towards connecting with other, similar organisations and groups with a view to hosting them in the near future.
Financially, the construction of the new shed has meant a lot of money being spent – although some costs were covered by a generous gift left by John Myers to the charity.
The drafting of the lease is still on-going after John (the landlord), passed away and we hope for that to be complete and in place by the end of this year.
The insurance policies etc are all up to date and in place (including public liability insurance), and our financial position remains healthy.

Section F Other optional information
This year our efforts have mainly focussed on the construction of the new building, maintaining the administrative side of the operation, completing restoration projects, and the reorganisation of the displays. We hope these changes will enhance the visitor experience for the future, and the collection will provide a significant public benefit across a range of ages and interest groups for years to come.
