## **Objectives and activities** 

Deliver an educational program which raises the awareness of individual well-being and mental health problems,

Raise awareness of suicide / depression and its effects Create a network of ‘Buddies’ who can act as a listening ear and/or signpost to mainstream services. 

Support a ‘loved ones’ against suicide network which aims to disseminate information / provide relevant details to those bereaved or affected by suicide or mental ill health. 



Undertake an annual programme of events to raise awareness and funds 

The James Burke Foundation remains committed to one of its core objectives to encourage and enable as many people as possible to access training that is free at source. This is particularly pertinent to reach those individuals in super output ~~areas of depravation who are statistically more likely to sufer~~ from mental ill health and a higher incidence of suicide. Working with a range of partners we promote, in in some cases deliver the following fully accredited courses:

- Wellbeing 

- Mental Health awareness L1 and Level 2 

- Mental Health first Aid Levels 1 to 3 

   Additionally, the Foundation facilitates a range of Awareness days,  covering MH awareness, Stigma, keeping safe in your community. And also

The Foundation has continued to work with a diverse range of communities and workplaces to reduce the incidence of suicide, raise     awareness so that self-referral and early intervention can take place. 

This work has become more urgent, and demand led post pandemic as Communities and individuals struggle to recover following isolation. 

One of the trustees has achieved her advanced counselling qualification which is used to support individuals in the community. 

When planning the Foundations activities for the year, the Trustees have considered the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit, and ensuring the Foundations offer is open to all.

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

All trustees give of their time freely and no trustee remuneration was paid in the year. No Trustee expenses were claimed within the first year, it was agreed that the first 12 months would be a period of consolidation and growth, enabling the charities ethos and mission to become embedded with communities. Trustees are required to disclose all relevant interests and register them with  and in accordance with the Foundations policy withdraw from any area where there is a potential conflict of interest. 

## **Achievements this year.** 

The impact of the Pandemic and lockdown had an impact on the ability to attend face to face meetings and training sessions in this way. The Foundation adapted by its increased use of social media. and on-line support groups delivering sessions to over 300. Recipients. 

Joined the Leeds Anti-suicide network to give the Foundation a voice 

in that area to shape policy **.** 

Accredited Cache courses have been delivered to over 90 individuals, free at source leading to certification and raising awareness, confidence and competency. 

Delivered awareness sessions, including 6 mental health awareness days, to over 550 people covering: 

- Mental health awareness 

 Stigma – how to overcome, what is itchanging the dialogue. 

- Suicide Awareness 

Held 5 awareness days at a. range of 

community locations. 

Produced an information booklet for
