Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The purpose of the charity is to host a
choral conducting competition, ideally
biennially. The 2020 and 2022 events
having been cancelled due to coronavirus,
we were delighted to be able to go ahead
in 2024 with our second edition of the
competition.
This took place at the Royal Academy of
Music (and one other nearby venue) from
October 31stto November 3rd2024. At this
event we increased the number of
competitors who were invited to the London
stage of the competition from six in 2018 to
fifteen in 2024. We also introduced an extra
dimension by including a professional choir
among the choirs the contestants were
asked to conduct. Again, we included a
series of masterclasses in collaboration
with the ABCD.
The final of the competition was attended
by many luminaries of the choral world who
universally praised the 2024 LICCC as
another resounding success. We are
resolved to return again with a further
competition as soon as funds can be raised
to support it, in either 2026 or 2027.
Two of our Trustees, Paul Brisby and
Richard Northcott, resigned in August 2024
after 6 years with our great thanks for their
efforts and help with the charity over that
period. We will be replacing them with
further trustees forthwith.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The charity’s expenditure was focussed
almost entirely on costs of putting on the
2024 LICCC event. Our budgeting was very
accurate, but ultimately, we raised through
donations, sponsorship and revenues a
little more than we required for the event
itself, leaving us with a modest sum to
invest in raising funds for the next LICCC.
The surplus from this period, £3,871, will be
added to the cash at bank from the
previous period of £1,904. The resultant
£5,775 is more than enough to cover our
very modest ongoing costs (essentially
banking costs) with no liabilities
outstanding.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 Our policy is not to keep a reserve of any
significant amount, but to raise sufficient
funds every two years to stage the LICCC
event. Hence we intend to spend c. £5,000
employing a professional fundraiser to raise
funds for future events. Our policy with any
remaining surplus is to leave it in the
current account.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 Minimum of £200.00
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
