COLNE VALLEY LIONS CLUB Trustees report for the year ended 30 June 2025 We are a small group of volunteers who strive hard year on year to both organise and run events. sometimes with the help of other volunteers who are not part of the Lions Community. We hold 516 'core events. which we know we can hold and run successfully. Everything we raise is donated to worthy causes. We are financially secure as can be seen from our accounts. Admin monies allow us to cover our administration expenses for the short to medium term. Whilst the trustees ensure that we do not commit expenditure on Charity prior to funds being raised. COLNE VALLEY LIONS CLUB

Treasurer’s report for the year ended 30 June 2025

Membership dues continue to exceed membership income, increasing this year to over £380, resulting in a year-end balance of only £21.29. Our options remain to either increase membership subscriptions substantially, at a risk of ‘putting off’ potential new members or find alternative ways to legitimately raise administration funds.

Despite our low number of members, we can successfully run, sometime with other volunteers, several ‘tried and tested’ events enabling us to donate more than £7,000 to deserving causes. Indeed, our Santa Sleigh, Beer Festival and Marsden 10 Miler events all raised more than they have done over the last five years.

Last year saw the passing of John Daker, the co-founder of Colne Valley Lions and the prime instigator of almost every event (other than probably the Marsden 10 Miler) since Colne Valley Lions Club was formed in 1987. I’m sure he would be highly delighted with the donations in his memory of over £1,000 and that these monies have been utilised within the last few days to help fund a prostate screening session in which 60 men were able to be tested as a preventative measure for prostate cancer.

Always conscious of the environment and area that we live in not only did we make a small donation to Golcar Environment Group, but we also continued with our daffodil planting with a further 2,500 bulbs planted at St John’s School, taking the total to 57,000 bulbs now planted within the valley, to which we also added a few hundred snowdrops!

If only we could add a few more members, we could achieve much more!
