Friends of Handsworth Park Chair’s Report 2023 - 24 The Friends of Handsworth Park continued to engage in regular activities in Handsworth Park, campaigning for cleaning to the upper lake, for preservation of park buildings (without success, regrettably) and in continuing the impactful Tea & Social event which sees the Sons of Rest building in regular use. The withdrawal of Council personnel and forthcoming cuts to services remains a cause for concern and a future risk for Handsworth Park, which Trustees and the public are keen to find solutions for. The charity’s financial position is not assured and will benefit from more regular funding streams and potentially income generation; however, planned services have continued throughout the year even when having to rely on volunteers’ out of pocket expenses and goodwill.
