The trustees are now in year 4 of our tenure and have all accepted another term as trustees,We don’t need to meet very often which is a testament to the commitment of the operational trustees and watchkeepers who operate in a truly professional manner.
Firstly, I wish to thank all of the trustees and watchkeepers for their continued support during 2022. Without volunteers with commitment and drive, Coastwatch Redcar just wouldn’t exist.
Secondly, the late Brian Withers whose significant and unexpected bequest secures the future of the station. The funds will be used wisely to supplement the income for the day-to-day operation of Coastwatch Redcar.
And finally, to Stan Whalley who is stepping down as Secretary after the 4 years of the Trust. Stan will remain as a trustee and will continue to plough through grant application forms as and when funding is required. Simon Mawson

TREASURERS REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES FOR YEAR 22/23
This financial year has been unusual in that for the first time we have received a bequest that has changed our financial position for the immediate future, the bequest was for £26620.99, thanks to the late Brian Withers.
However from a treasurers position we have a responsibility to use this bequest carefully and not generally use it for day to day running of the station. My view is that we aim to use it to develop the station and our watch keepers.
However there will be an element of ups and downs which we can accept, for example in this financial year if we remove the bequest our income would have been about £9500 with expenditure of just under £12000 ie a £2500 shortfall. What we must try to do is identify income streams to balance income and expenditure. So that we do not have an annual drain on our reserves.
To sum up our finances are sound we have no debt, however we need to be aware of the need to up our income.
