Downham Baptist Church is a Chanty Inccwated Organisatw)n {CIO) that is governed by an
8pproved Constitution and BY1av￿ which states that. 'Under the authortty of Jesus Christ and
the Word of God, the Membership of the Churth is the final authorty within this local Church..
Membership of the ¢hur¢h is crf)en to anyone who profe5s8s the Christian faith in accordance
with the church's Basis ol Farth. has been baptised by immerfjion after salvation and satisfies
such olher requirements as have been speufied by the Church Constitution and Bylaws.
The authority of the membership is rK)nnalty eX￿180d through the election of officers to
govem the church. The Officers of the church are the Pastor, any Assistant Pastor(s) and
Dea¢on($> as well as the Secretary and the Treasurer lin the evenl that the S8cretary and
Trea$urer are not Deacons). The charity tnjslees of the thurch are the persons appointed to
the offices of Pastor. Deacons, Secretary and Treasurer.
The members of the church must meet at least every 15 months for an annual general meeting
(AGM) but normally meet every quarter. The Charity trustees must meet every quartor to
manage the administration of the church.

The objects of the church are the advancement of the Christian farth in accordance with the
Basis of Faith primarily but not exclusr4ety within Downham, London and the Burrounding
neighbourhood,. and such other charitable purposes as shall. In the opinlon of the charity
tru8te8S, Put into Pract￿ the Christian fath in aCC#)rdance with the Basis of Faith provided
that the advancement of such purposes must be undertaken in a manner that is consistent
with the Ethical Statements as may be adopted and amended by the church from time to time
in accordance with the provisions of the Church 8ylaw8.
The main 8Ctivrtie5 of the church are providing a place of worship, advancing the Christian
faith, educaling people about the Christian farth, provKling pastoral care and outreach, as well
as supporting evangelical missionaries.
The church provKles a place of worship at Mottingham Communty Centre 34 Kimmeridge
Road Mottingham SE9 4EB (prevK)usty met at 60 Churchdown, Bromley. BR1 5PQ). Worship
services are a(fvertised to the general public thrO￿h signage. leafiets, websites. S(￿la1 media
and word of mouth.

events and efforts in the community. Every week, the church also educates people about the
Christian laith at Sunday seNices. and in small group Bible studies.
The church prowde8 pastoral care and outreach by teaching God's Word 8ppropriate to the
needs of the rnembers and attendees and equipping the n￿rnbers to be actively involved in
pastoral care and outreach as a demonstralion of their Christian faith.
The church endeavors to train arKI support missiona￿$ to carry the gospel to other parts of
the Unrt8d lQ'ngdom and overseas. Thosè trained as missionarses will then go out to other
part8 of the world with the gospel message. Flnanclal support for missionaries is given by the
church members to 8 missionary fund and then paKI direGtty to the individual or the charity the
individual works with.
The church beneffts the general publi¢ by provKling worship services that are open to the
general public, woviding information about the Christian faith through various outreach events
and efforts and by provmling training and mentorino for those who desire to serve as Christian
workers.
The worship services. small group Bible studi88. and other events and clubs are open to
anyone who wishes to attend. Personal discipleship and fvrther training and mentoring are
more selective, giving priorty to those who have become members, have attended faithfulty,
and who have the potential lo go and teach and train other8. Thi$ is a￿vayS done with the long-
temi akn of tying to ben8frt P8ople from all backgrounds. Such d8Ci8ions afe rnade In
aC￿r(lance wtth the prO(￿dureS set oul in the constitution. taking into account the principles
set out in the Bible and the context in whth thos8 pnncip16s afe applied today.
Achlevoments and P•rformanGe
The Church, under the leadership of our relatively new pastor, confjnued to progress with a
rnain focus of layir¥J a solid foundatK)n of Chrislian knowledge and grtrArth of it'8 members and
attenders.
One of our trustees attended a webinar in June. hosted by the Charity Commission. to help
trustees gain a bettef ufKlerstanding of their role within the organisation. This information was
later shared viith the other trustees.
Support was given to 8everal lamilbes dealing wfth health. finance6 arKI bereavement
Downham Baptist Church worked with Proplthc Wrtness Movemenl Intemational (PWMI) to
host a Bible Basics Confe￿￿￿. The goal of the conference and the PbVMI M￿lstry is to
motivate Christians to live godly lives dedicated to prayer arKI evangelism.
Throughout 2023, acb'vitw were hehj for men in the church. and local area. to encourage
and equip them in maintainirvj good relationships with their famil*s, work colleagues and
neighbours. This also benefftted the men in solKlifyin9 their r61ats'onship with each
other.

The Churth was prlvileged to witness a local Christian follcw in baptism which was
conducted by our pastor.
Throughout 2023, as in previous years. the church mairrtained its mlnistry of advancing the
Christian Faith through regular outreach, Bible studies, and worship seNlces. aThJ the church
continues to support two Evangelical Missionaries.. (Th in Honduras. and another one In
Northern Ireland.
