## Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts for Let’s Educate Them (LET, 1177655)

The Trustees of “Let’s Educate Them” present the annual report for “Let Education System” for the year ending 31/03/2025. We confirm that the report complies with the requirements of the ‘Charities Act 2011’ and the ‘Foundation Model Constitution’.

## Our aims:

We are a UK-based charity registered in England and Wales (1177655), established in 2018, and operating in some of Pakistan's poorest areas. Our mission is to provide free education to underprivileged children, with a particular focus on girls.

We have established a school in Rahim Yar Khan, located in the underdeveloped and impoverished region of South Punjab. This initiative aligns with our ‘Foundation Model Constitution’ and the educational needs of the 21st century.

Our organization aims to benefit the public by advancing female education in both the UK and Pakistan through the provision of schools and other educational training facilities. To achieve this goal, we built the school literally ‘from the ground up,’ with funding provided by our chairperson and the dedicated efforts of the local community.

The school opened in 2018 with just 10 pupils, all of whom were girls. However, our establishment quickly generated excitement, leading many more girls to seek access to this valuable opportunity for education.

## Achievements and activities so far (March 2025):

**UK:** We continue our commitment to supporting children online. We have extended our assistance to all children and parents who have shown interest in receiving educational help, regardless of their financial situation, free of charge. Our initiative, ‘Next Door,’ in partnership with Barclays Bank PLC, allowed us to offer these services to anyone who wished to benefit from them. We actively promoted our services to local communities, clearly stating that they are free of charge. With the support of Barclays Bank PLC, we successfully marketed our services throughout our local area. As a result, we were able to assist approximately 50 students both online and in face-to-face sessions.

**Pakistan:** In southern Punjab, education for girls is often discouraged and viewed negatively. Many believe that educating girls diverts their attention from household responsibilities, resulting in a lack of emphasis on anything beyond primary education for them. In numerous villages in this region, women either work in labour jobs to support their families or are not permitted to work at all. Areas like Rajanpur face significant challenges,

including a very low number of functioning girls' schools, primarily due to insufficient government funding.

Our school is dedicated to promoting girls' education. We provide co-education for both boys and girls from primary through middle school up to grade 8. However, we prioritize girls' education in secondary school, as only 13% of girls continue their education by the ninth grade. Since our founding, the school has made considerable progress and now offers a high-quality curriculum for primary, middle, and secondary education to 400 students, with the majority being girls.

**Renovation of Building:** Two years ago, the impact of flooding and heavy rains was devastating. Many of our school buildings sustained significant water damage. Several classrooms were severely affected, toilets were blocked, and the sanitation and underground sewage systems were extensively damaged, requiring major repairs. Additionally, much of the school's electrical system needed urgent attention.

We

have now fully renovated the building, and the electrical system has been overhauled, with the necessary components replaced. The school has been restored to full functionality, ensuring that all 400-plus students receive a complete education in a healthy, safe, and comfortable environment.

**Facilitating SEN Students:** In November 2023, we were informed about 10 students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and two physically disabled students who urgently need to be relocated to schools that are adequately staffed and equipped to support their requirements. All the children, who are girls, previously attended mainstream schools in Rahim Yar Khan but can no longer continue due to the lack of resources and support for their SEN needs.

Each of these students has specific and individual learning differences that must be addressed. They require tailored teaching methodologies, as well as appropriate learning aids and materials. Given their unique needs and behavioural requirements, they cannot integrate into mainstream classes and would necessitate a dedicated classroom, which we can provide with some minor adjustments. A one-size-fits-all approach is not suitable for them, and the teaching strategies must reflect this need, along with the requirement for professionally qualified SEN teaching staff.

The two physically disabled students face mobility challenges that hinder their ability to move freely and control their body movements. These mobility issues make it difficult for them to manage distances between different learning activities, carry materials, and take notes. They require assistance to navigate within classrooms and to use the bathroom. Additionally, their families cannot afford wheelchairs, so we aim to support the purchase of these devices to enhance their learning experience.

We

were already struggling to cope with the large number of mainstream students coming in every day. After careful consideration, we accepted these challenges posed by additional students. We are pleased to report that we have effectively supported these students.

We have hired a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher and allocated a separate classroom on the ground floor for their use. We assessed the individual seating needs of these students and had purpose-built furniture created by a local manufacturer.

We are confident that we are adequately meeting their educational, psychological, and physical needs. In addition to focusing on their well-being and education, we have also considered their recreational needs. Over the past year, we have taken them on three educational and recreational tours. To promote their emotional and physical development, we have provided various play equipment, including bicycles, for them to enjoy.

In summary, we can proudly say that we have managed these students very well, and they are receiving exceptional care despite our limited resources.

**Upgradation of Electric Supply System:** Two years ago, the impact of flooding and heavy rains was devastating. Many of our school buildings suffered significant water damage, and

much of the electrical system required urgent attention. The only source of electricity was destroyed, and the electric poles were severely damaged. Additionally, the electrical wiring system was compromised. The power supply from government sources was unreliable, leading to frequent load shedding, which made it difficult to continue teaching without disruptions.

There is a significant need for an uninterrupted power supply to support twenty-six classrooms, offices, staff rooms, and an IT laboratory. Without electric fans, children struggle to continue their studies in the harsh heat of Pakistan.

With the generous support of our donors, we have resolved most, if not all, of the electrical supply issues.

We have successfully installed 26 solar panels and two Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems. This upgrade not only provides the school with a reliable power source but also marks a significant step toward sustainability. The school is no longer reliant on the government's costly and unreliable electricity supply.

Our electricity bills were quite high in the past, but now they have decreased even though our electricity consumption has increased. We are currently running 30 fans across 12 classrooms, offices, and a canteen. Additionally, we have installed two tube wells to ensure an ample water supply for cleaning, washing, and sanitation purposes.

In the harsh summer weather of Pakistan, it is essential to provide cool drinking water. To meet the needs of our 400 students, we have installed two electric coolers. For the safety and security of our property and the individuals working at the school, we have set up 16 security cameras. These cameras operate 24/7 and are powered by the affordable and cleaner electricity generated by our solar panels.

All these measures have been taken to create a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable environment for children to study and spend their time. This would not have been possible without your support.

## **Providing an Excellent Place to Grow:**

This institution is not merely a place for students to study; it is a nurturing environment where young children, especially girls, can grow, play, learn, and thrive. We have employed an excellent teaching staff from local communities, and it is noteworthy that all of our teachers are women. We take pride in being the largest employer of female staff in the area.

We are utilizing all currently available educational technologies to teach our students. We are pleased to announce that we have hired a UK-based teacher who will conduct live English lessons from the UK for three hours every day. We are very proud to be able to provide world-class education to these disadvantaged children, thanks to your help and support. All modern educational tools, including the internet, projectors, laptops, and tablets, are being provided. Additionally, we are offering fast internet facilities for both students and teachers.

We are maintaining a grassy area for children to play and run around. Additionally, we have an indoor play area equipped with swings and slides.

To support our students and teachers, we provide a pick-up and drop-off service using four vehicles. This service operates on a break-even basis, ensuring that we cover our costs without making a profit.

Furthermore, we run a canteen in the school that offers healthy and affordable snacks for both students and staff.

We have supported and encouraged students to grow trees in the school area. Not only have we created a green and environmentally friendly atmosphere for students to thrive in, but we have also explained the importance of green initiatives and encouraged them to participate actively.

It is important to highlight that our entire teaching staff consists of women. We aim to lead our female students by providing strong examples of women's empowerment. The entire school is operated by female staff, demonstrating our commitment to this principle.

We are also working diligently on sustainability, and in the near future, we expect to operate the school without any external assistance.
