Britlsh Association ol Body Sculpting is a private company Iirnited by guaranlee Incorporated In England and Wales. The
registered office is Gascoynes House, Moseleys Farm Business Centre, Fornham All Saints, Suffolk, IP28 61Y.
1.1 Accounting eonvention
The lin3ncial statements have been prepared in accordanc& with the charity's Igovernin9 documentl, the Companies Act
2006 and Accounling and Reporting by Charities.. Statement ol Recommended Practice applicable lo chJities
preparing thoir accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in tho UK ard Ropublic ol
Ireland IFRS 1021" la5 amended for accounting periods commencing from I january 20191. The charity 15 a Public Benefit
Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The charity has taken advantsge ol the provisions in the SORP lor charities applyin9 FRS 102 Update Bulletin I not to
prepare a Statement ol Cash Flow5.
The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in
these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, Imodilied lo indude the revaluation ol
freehold properties and lo include investment properties and certain lin8ncial instruments al lair valuel. The principal
accounting policies adopted are sei out below.
1.2 Going concern
Al the lime ol approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the chaiily has adequate
resources lo continue in operation31 existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees continue lo adopl Ihe going
concern basis olaccounting in preparing the financial statements.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestricted funds are available lor use at the discretion ollhe trustees in luriherarice of their charitable objectives.
Reslricted fund5 are subject 10 Specific conditions by donors a5 to how they may be used. The pU[￿seS and uses ol the
restricted funds are set out in the notes to Ihe financial statements.
Encjowrnenl funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained bythe charity,
1.4 Incoming resources
Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any perlorm3nce conditions hale been met, the
mounts can be measured reliably. and it is probable that income will be received.
Cash donation5 are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified ol the
donation, unless perform3nce conditlons require deferral ol the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to doDalions
received under Gift Aid or deeds ol covenant is reC￿niSed at the time ofthe dor)alion.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise il the charity has been nolified ol an impending d6tribution. the amount
Is known, and receipt 15 expected. Ilthe arnount is not known, the legacy is treated a5 a contingenta55et.
1.5 Resources expended
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obli9alion to transfer economic bwefit lo a third paty, it is
probable th3t a transfer ol economic benefit5 will be required in settlernent, and the amount ol the obligation c3n be
measurÈd rèliably.
Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs ol each activity are rnado up ol tho total of dIr￿t costs and shared costs.
including 5UPPOrt Costs involved in undertaking each activity. Direct C05t5 attributable to a single activity are allocated
directly to that activity. Shared costs which contribute to moro than one activity and support costs which are not
attributsble to a single activity are apportioned bebNeen those activitie5 on a ba515 con515tent with the use ol re50urce5.
Central staff costs are allocated on the basis ol time spent, and depreciation charges are allocaled on the portion ol the
a55et 5 Use.

Accounting policies

Expenditure is recognised when a liability is incurred. Funding provided through contractual agreements and
performance related grants are recognised as goods or services are supplied. Other grant payments are recognised
when 3 constructive obligatiorb arises that results In the payment being unavoidable.
Costs ol generating funds are those costs incurred in attracting voluntary income, and those incurred in trading activities
that ftise funds.
Giants payable are payments made to third pariies in the luitherance ol the chaiiiable objectives ol the Tiusl. Single or
multi-ye3r gr3nts are accounted lor when either the recipient has a reasonable expectation that they will receive a grant
and the trustees have agreed to pay Ihe grant without condition, 01 the recipient has a reasonable expectation that Ihey
will receive a grant and any condition attaching lo the grant is outside olthe control ol the Trust.
Provisions lor grants are made when the intention to m3ke a grant has been communicated to the recipient but there is
unceriainly about either the timing tslthe grant 01 the amtsuni of grant payable.
Governance costs include those Incurred in the governance ol its assets and are primarily associated with constilutional
and statutory requirements.
Support costs include central functions and have been èllocaied to activity cost categories on a basis consisteni with Ihe
use ol resources, e.g. èllocating office property costs by floor areas. management and human resources costs by the
number ofstam, and finance and IT costs by work done.
1.6 C85h and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalenis include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term liquid investments with
original maturities ol three rnonths Dr less. and bank overdrafts. 8ank overdraft5 are shown within borrowings in current
