## York Developers Annual Accounts – 2020

## Overview

As with many charities and businesses we were deeply impacted by Covid. The main activity of the charity is to provide local in-person technical related events. These are comprised from either monthly “meetups” or our yearly conference. Unfortunately, neither of these in-person activities were possible during 2020 resulting in events only taking place online (i.e., virtually)

Summary for 2020 Accounts

|Summaryfor 2020|Accounts|
|---|---|
|OpeningBalance|£1,638.06|
|Paid in|£0|
|Paid Out|£264.64|
|ClosingBalance|£1372.42|

## Correction From Previous Year

The balance for the previous year was reported as 1608.03 when it should however have been 1638.05.

The difference was due to

1. Chris Maughan submitted two expense claims for Meetup fees (for 2018 @ 180.30 and 2019 @ 239.44). Unfortunately these were incorrectly recorded against the wrong years. Resulting in being £59.14 too low.

2. Paypal made a test transaction of 1p which was not included in the opening balance

3. The Eventbrite income of £29.12 was missed from the opening balance.

The actual accounts for 2019 should have been

|OpeningBalance|£269.35 not £240.22|
|---|---|
|Paid in|£2,589.81|
|Paid Out|£1,221.10 not 1,280.24|
|ClosingBalance|£1,638.06 not 1,608.03|

## Bank Account

As per the previous year, the charity has a bank account with Lloyds bank and any withdrawals requires the approval of two trustees.

## Gift Aid

We have not registered for Gift Aid, but we could consider doing this in the future.

## York Tech Fest

Due to Covid it was not possible to hold our yearly conference during 2020.

## Income

The charity received no income during 2020.

## **Total:** £0

## Expenses

The expenses for the year are shown below

|**Expense**|**Amount**|
|---|---|
|MeetupFees|239.44|
|Domain Name and Email|25.20|

## **Total:** £264.64

## Bank Balance

Our closing bank balance for 2020 was £1372.42

## Hosting Costs

Our websites are hosted either in GitHub for free or use services offered by the Microsoft Azure platform. As a charity we receive $5000 of credits for Azure per year.

## Meetups

The majority of the YorkDevelopers community groups used meetup.com in order to advertise and allow people to sign up to the events.

Some of the groups (such as .net York and ACCU York) get their meetup accounts from their parent foundations.

Other groups such as YorkCodeDojo, CodeAndCoffee and YorkGamesDev are being funded by the charity.

## Affiliated Groups

At present the YorkDevelopers charity hasn’t taken any income or funded the local groups. It is our aim that in the future that the charity will be able to provide some resources such as projectors or video recording equipment.
