**to support the growing enthusiasm for**
**music at Tollesbury Primary School. We**
**have this year been subsidising**
**individual flute lessons for 5 pupils**
**across years 5 and 6, as well as**
**continuing the now eagerly anticipated**
**Toot lessons in year 4. These are for the**
**whole class for the first two terms, then**
**in small groups for the third term. Once**
**again, the staff have commented on how**
**these lessons help general**
**concentration and provide an alternative**
**interest and focus for some individuals.**
**At the end of the Spring term, the whole**
**school attended a concert at which**
**performances were given by both the**
**year 4 toots and the individual flute**
**players. The aspirational impact for the**
**younger children was very impressive.**
**One further aspect of music support has**
**been to subsidise the drama lessons for**
**a child in year 1. As an adopted child,**
**her damaged and delayed emotional**
**development finds great expression**
**through singing and dancing at a**
**weekly Saturday drama group.**
**Unfortunately, progress with setting up**
**individual piano lessons has been slow.**
**Constraints on when the room**
**containing the piano can be used, and**
**the challenge of finding a tutor have**
**delayed starting lessons, but we hope to**
**begin in September 2025.**
**Following the success of supporting a**
**gap year student in 2023, we have made**
**contact with an organisation called the**
**Project Trust with the aim of offering**
**bursaries to between 2 and 5 of their**
**gap year students for overseas projects.**
**We consider the benefits of living and**
**working abroad for a period of months**
**to be absolutely in keeping with the**
**aims of the Trust and are keen to**
