Para 1.20 | Music tuition at Tollesbury School continues with great enthusiasm. Of the initial year 4 group, two pupils have continued with individual flute lessons in the past year and are keen to maintain lessons into year 6. From the second group of year 4 pupils this year, we have two groups of about six pupils wanting to progress to the flute in year 5. We are looking to start subsidising individual lessons on a second instrument ( guitar or piano) in the academic year starting September 2024. In the autumn 2023 term we also supported Ukelele lessons for the entire year 6 group which were a great success. The glockenspiels and drums continue to be used to great effect by the younger children, and staff have commented on how useful they are in helping with musical teaching as required for both Keystage 1 and 2 In autumn 2023 we received feedback from a sixth form student who we had assisted with funding to enable him to spend his gap year teaching in a rural school in South America. He had obviously had a fabulous time and learned a lot about many aspects of life. The relatively modest sums requested by Tollesbury School mean that we have been able to continue to support them from the Barclays current account. The funds invested with Finn and Co have therefore remained untouched and continue to grow. |
