## **Annual Report for 2021** 

Because of Covid, the Museum was only open for part of the year, and although its visitor numbers were significantly more than they were in 2020, they numbered little more than 100, which still reflects a small fraction of the numbers that would be expected in a non-Covid year.  This did include some distinguished visitors however, such as the Lord Mayor of York and Sheriff. 

As a consequence of having a second year of low visitor numbers, as well as the impending closure of Imphal Barracks towards the end of the 2020s, the Trustees’ attention has been turned towards the digitisation the 2D collection.  This has coincided with an offer made by the Army Museums Ogilby Trust (AMOT) to have the archives included on its own platform as part of a plan to give digital access to all military museums. Also in the wake of the barracks closure, plans have been made to transfer the management of the Museum’s accounting arrangements from HQ York Garrison to its own independent bank account, as well as a rationalisation exercise to reduce its holdings of non-collection books. 

Meanwhile, the museum volunteer curatorial staff have continued to upgrade and enhance the displays in their bid for ever more effective interpretation of the stories behind the objects.
