pandemic.

more difficult to secyre. ￿nderS a￿ becoming more Spe{i￿ in thsir criteria. meaning charities such as
rs, who are ever Changi￿ wrfh no ongo1￿ pro￿. are beo)miNJ Iwnited in our options to
securè this of fLbnding.
However. ￿ December 2022 charity was r￿￿nated and selthd 8s winn8r fty "Charity of th8
Yearf in th• tloncaster Business Awanls 2022. ScKnèthing we were all very proud of after a drfiujtt
cojple of years for all involved. This connectwjn included some a(Idrfional funding to support our new
mèmorial garden.
Ultimately how9v&r. 2022r23 was a diffic￿1 yew fin￿￿k91y. i[K￿l￿a siqnificant finanaal losses
and increased expendrture. in•ased expendiknre was all the overall aim ol growth.

At Eves Trust, we believe in the power of d￿ms. and when we recwved Laura'5 $1¢)ry, li tou¢h&d our
hearts deeFAy. Latjra's ioumey has been one of Iremend¢xJs slrength. re￿llenCe. and love for her
family. We are I￿OUr8(1 to have ￿aYed a small part in makir¥J her dream o)me tNe and prowding
mu¢h-ne8d8d f8mity time duriThJ a chalenging chaptèr of her life.
In Juty 2021, Laura's life t(*Jk an unexpecled lum when sho was di•3nwd with breasl cancer. The
road ahead was daunling. fil￿ vrith seven r￿ndS ol chemotherapy. a mastectomy, tymph node
dearance, radiotherapy, and addilional surgeries lo remov8 hèr ovari8s and fallopian tub6s.
Throughoul this gruelling jrwmey, Laur3'5 youThJ Ch￿ren. aged 7. 5. and 3 al the lime. showed
remarkable resilignce and strength. reminding her of Ihe Inc￿11￿8 bl8sstrigs she hokls as their

On the 7th of Juty 2022 my husband Graham w8s wjmitted into Wilal by our GP for whal they
thought was an infertK>n in hos stomach. Graham in DOr￿St￿r Royal Infimiary for 4 days having
various tests when they told u5 they h￿1 found a huge mass acx05s hi5 abdomen, they Llk1n't know
what it was but suspected it could be cancer, Iwo d8y18ter they tried a procedure at Doncaster to stop
the bleeding. this didn't w)rk and so Ihe nexi day he was blue ltrjhted by afflbul8nce to Northem
General in Sheffiekl. he needed lo be operated on by a spe¢Hlist surgeon. In total over the next few
ays. ha rgcaived 24 units ol bbod. h& was 8xtrem8ty weak arKt was passing as much bknod as thay
were rep18cin9.1 was very vThied as l UJLld w Nm deterKJratiThJ eath day.

Vhen h8 arriv8d hè was tokl ty Ihe Sur￿ that the operation vrds very risky ￿ there was a 50%
chance of it being successful and 50% d￿nCe of him w3ki)g UP. that hè dldn't want to do thè
operation as it was so ctsmplex and risky. there were 2 p￿kets of gas insKJe turrour that could
burst at any tim8 and the tumour was attached to all his ab(knminal organs.
Thè nèxt 9 h￿[S w•r& unbearable waiing for a cal to know rf he wouhj make it. hour fdl
like a day had pa55ed. The surgeon ￿￿¢(1 me after 9pm to tell me the operation was a success. and
that Graham was ncw under sedathjn in ICU vknere he 4w)Lld remain for the next lew d8ys. He spenl a
further 2 week5 in the Northem Genera and then many n￿lIhS re£￿Ve￿n9 al home. not only had they
removed the tumour but a150 ham of h$ l•ryo Intest¢￿. crf his bntesti￿. hB duodenum.
gallbladder, and he was left with a stoma.
Th8s8 weeks w8r8 the worst twne of ￿Jr li4w, due to the CoNTr*19 reStr1d￿ our ¢PukJren uxjld not
visit their Dad in hospital. I was abl8 to Visbt for 2 h￿[S a day which passed so quickly. the emotional
strain was something none of u5 had ever eX￿lenGed. t)uring those w8eks it felt k.ke Ihe love,
strength, and support from al of our family twas the onty I￿r￿j geiting us through.

scan and hisloknJy report on the luft￿￿r. They tokj us that Graham still had can￿r ￿ his abdomen.
and It had already spread onto his livei, ar¥J it was a Gastr(yntestin81 Stromat Tumour IGISTI. Graham
atready had prostste cancer vthich he was diagnosed with around 2.5 years ago. we had always fell
really lucky that this vrds found wdrty and was b8￿9 m0nrt0r￿l at DRI.
GIST is 8 ra￿ cancel which is incurat4e and unfC￿unaIety does respond lo chemolherapy or
radK)therapy treatrnents. we were then refwr¢d to Weston Park Cancer Hospital and Graham was
Immediately stsrted on a drug caled Imatinib a type of cancer grNth blod(er whtch keeps the can¢xr
at bay for a limited bme, he tskes Ihis every day and vril have to continue ￿th this for the rest of his
lffe. for as l¢)ng as the drug keeps wcwking.

The following year whilst Graham *ds recoveriro from his opernt*Jn and (y)￿￿ng to teffi￿ with the

Grah8m had 8 dream to take me to see his football dub Liverpool play at home and take me to
experience the atmosphere. I've never been interested Th) fr￿ball. bLrt he asSU￿d me it's completely
differ8nl whèn you ar6 at thg groLmd exporienung the atmosphere. Grahaffl hasn't been able to go to
the match for many year5 as lickets are PA) drffvwl to Com8 a(JD&S.

source some tickets for us. they not onty got us lick8ts for LivèrtMxA but tr) t)erty ayaknst Everton -
Livèrpoc4's local rival. Graharn being a scouser was over the m(M)n with this.
11 didn't stop there. the Eve's trust booked us 1st dass train tickets to Liverpoo5 and a fabulous hotel
th breakfast light next to the train station. We stayed there for 2 nvJhts., it w35 just pwfecl from start
to finish.
I did enjoy the football il was a great a1m05p1￿re, iwl l enjoye(l li thtr mre kr￿￿ng that Graham
was 8ble to take MÈ that he kived every minule and was abbe to get his dream granted by Eve's Trust.

Centre. after an examin8tK)n she was u￿u￿ what it was. so I had a mammogram. uttrasound, and
biopsy. I ￿turned 4 days later with my Jokn lo be toll I ha119rade 3 b￿3$1 I￿ncer and woukl
need a lurnpeclomy. thmotherapy. and radiotherapy. li vras a complete shod¢ as I'm normally fit and

seen 2 days befo￿ Christmas and was given a date for sunJery. We decided not to tell my daughter
