## **Notes of the Trustees Meeting 17 October 2024 – Annual Summary**

## **Summary of the Year** 

## _Pupils_ 

We have completed an enjoyable and positive year for the schools, children and volunteers. Overall, a quiet year however, with attendees from 2 local schools. One or two of the children from Ysgol-Y-Deri School proved more challenging than the younger children from Palmerston School because they are more mature and have different needs, but with the support from their knowledgeable and caring teachers they have really enjoyed their lessons, as we have, and have ridden successfully passing grade 1 in riding and horse care. 

We are very happy with the quality of instruction given to the riders and we note the diligence of coaches in updating their logbooks. 

## _Trustees_ 

Where appropriate, Trustees completed conflict of interest forms and acceptance forms. 

Trustees noted that the role of organiser is still being divided between two existing Trustees and this is working well. 

Trustees have completed and reviewed risk assessments, the governing document and the constitution; no amendments were needed. 

DBS completed as required, including refresher certificates. 

The Trustee annual checklist was reviewed and compliance agreed. 

## _Volunteers_ 

A number of new volunteers joined the group during the year, have completed the necessary training, and have fitted in very well. 

The South Wales AGM in November 2024 was attended by a member of the group who presented the annual report. 

The Dinas Powys Group was 50 years old in June 2024 and a celebration lunch will be held to make presentations for long service awards. 

## **Report of the Treasurer** 

All Trustees received and accepted the last set of accounts (see statement of income and expenditure on page 3) for the period to 1 November 2024. The group always works within its available funds; although our bank balance is healthy at year-end, we all acknowledge the need to continue to fund-raise throughout 2025.

## **Next Meeting** 

Our next meeting will be 20 February 2025 which will be an Annual General Meeting.

We thanked all of our volunteers and coaches for their hard work and for giving up their time so freely. We also thank Cardiff Riding School for their support of our group and their kind assistance with the weekly lessons. Lastly, we are hugely grateful to all the organisations and individuals who provide much-needed donations towards our work.
