## Annual General Meeting ## Chair’s Report 23 Aug 2021 It has been a most interesting year! The focus of the Alliance has been doing what is possible during a very constrained period. However, the Alliance has achieved a great deal during this time. 1. Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. Memory Matters were fortunate to receive lottery funding to establish virtual cognitive stimulation therapy. TDA joined with Home Instead and Tavistock Memory Café and took part in this project with Memory Matters. Eight facilitators received online training and all 3 organisations received support from Memory Matters to establish CST groups. Three groups were formed of 6 beneficiaries. Many of the referred beneficiaries came from our Admiral Nurse. The project started in January 2020 and ran for 12 weeks with evaluation. The Social Impact Report from Memory Matters details that those who attended vCST were 74% less lonely and 85% had improved quality of life. At the end of the supported project the facilitators were able to continue with their group for a further 12 weeks. It is hoped to return to face to face CST, in the library, possible on a Monday afternoon, from October/November time. 2. Panto Online. To provide a bit of fun and enjoyment over the lockdown seasonal period, TMC and Home Instead paid for a Panto Online which could then be accessed easily at any time. 3. Virtual Dementia Friends Sessions. Lynn undertook 2 Dementia Friends sessions during the year – on behalf of West Devon CVS (many of those attended were Tavistock residents) and for our local team of District Nurse organised by the Team Leader Kim Beattie. 4. Tovertafel. The Tovertafel has now been installed in the library and after some struggles to get a working unit we are now able to offer this service to our community. An opening ceremony is being planned and a booking service will be run by the library staff. Booking can be done by ringing the library. The library staff can assist in getting folk up and running with the Tovertafel which is very simple to use by a family carer. It is hoped that local residential homes will be able to bring residents down to use the Tovertafel in the future. 5. Awareness Raising in the Square.
