Section D Achievements and performance The Society has published five new books during the year. Industrial Railways & LocomotNes of South Afiica. volume 2, Industrial Railways around Penistone. Sheffield Sewage Works Raitrrtays, The Locomotives, RaiaY & History 191&1919 of the National Filling Factory No.14, Hef0rd, Industrial Railways & Locomotives of Fumess, Vlestmoreland & the I8 of Man Summary of tho main achievements of tho charlty during the year Four issues of the SOCW magazine, the Indu•trlal Rallw•y Record, numbers 260 to 263. were published during the year and di$tribLrte(I to members as part of their annual subscn'ption. Addrtional cowes of each issue are printed for Sa to the general public and there is a continuous demand for back issues which the Soc sales team endeavour to meet. Six 36 page Bullets'ns with UK and sOety domestic newa and four Bulletins of Overseas News were distributed to members. Spare copies of these are offered for sale to the gentral public at the various Soc sales stands throughout the year. 14 visits to industrial and private railway sites look place during the year and were well patronised. The category of Day Membership, introduced during 2022 to allow non-members lo parttcipate in these visits, subject to availakn'lrty of places, has proved popular and a number of Day Member parti¢tpants have subsequently joined the Society. The Society Archive has been consolidated in its new home. still in the same location. but in another building. A number of bequests army other donations have be8n receNed during the year and work is ongoing to Catalogue tr*se and wepare them for the use of researcher8. Many enquiries for Infomiation fr<)m the general public come in to our volunteers vthilst staffing our sales Stand at galas and open days. Section F Other optional information In planning our activrties we are mindful of encouraging the young8r generation (teenagè and upwards) and making them aware of our industrial history, the part played by the irKlustnal railway and locomotive. mechanical engineering. the industrial processes that required these raiKvays to move raw materials, semi- finished and finished goods and of what is still available to see and visit loday. We also wish to educate the wider public on the part played by industrial raj¥4y8, especially in their local communrty. It can be very rewarding when a communty refers to Iheirf old engine that worked in h local mine, quarry or power ststion. The Annual General Meeting wa8 held at the Cha8ewater Railway, an wJani8ation with which the Society has close links through their common ongins in the Bimiingham Loc¢)motive Club. The t4VO Soci8tb88 share many members. All members were circulated, as usual, with Officers. reports via the n¢xmal kn'.monthly distribution. both postal and electronic.
