making grants to such organisations as the Trustees
shall see fit in order to promote and encourage the

1.19|Following limited activity in 2020 and 2021 due to
the covid pandemic we were able to re-engage and
undertake the following activities during 2023:
**Grants**
We awarded Finstock for Nature a grant of £460 as
seed-corn funding to undertake a wide-ranging
consultation with the local community in
collaboration with the Parish Council, to design and
implement a community orchard in the parish field, a
wildflower verge along the High St and a small flood
mitigation scheme.
Charlbury Bowls Club are a not-for-profit Community
Amateur Sports Club, who were seeking to make
some improvements to the club house aiming
towards a net-zero carbon building. Sustainable
Charlbury supported the Club with grants totalling
£7,455 which funded an initial report and survey and
contributions towards improvements to low-energy
lighting and insulation.
We continued to support Charlbury Primary School
with a grant of £5,600 to fund an advisor within the
school to facilitate and drive the Learning for
Sustainability programme. We also granted £2,240
for a nature survey/programme for Wychwood
Paddocks (the school playing field).

them to reduce, an initial £280 has been granted for
a thermal Imaging report to help prioritise
improvements.
**Book**
We invested £3,736 in the design and print of 500
books entitled “Power to the People - The Story of
Southill Solar”, this tells the story of how our small
town in the Cotswolds came together to create a
community-owned and controlled solar farm.
The book was written by our trustee Mark Gregory,
primarily based on information from Tim Crisp and
Liz Reason, founders of the project. The 64-page
colour booklet sets out information about the project
and explains how and why the solar farm came to
be built as an exciting community enterprise.
The purpose of the book is to document for record,
and also to inspire and share information to other
communities to help them do the same.
So far profits from book sales amount to £138. We
will continue to sell to recoup some of the costs.
**Administration**
We spent £60 on fees associated with running our
website
**Home Comforts Project**
We received a grant of £21,000 from the Evenlode
Foundation to fund the “Home Comforts Project”.
This project will be led by the town councils’
Buildings Working Group and will survey a range of
typical houses in the town, to give a holistic view of
what is required to retrofit the whole town. Spending
