Charity trustee selection methods for 2019/20 onwards —   Seven ex-officio, i.e. president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, 2nd vice-president, immediate past president, and membership officer. 

Summary of objects of the charity are set out in its governing document- To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs. 

## Financial review - 

There are 3 accounts - admin, activities, and charity. 

At the end of the Lions year 2023-24 the bank balances were admin £722, activities £3023, and charity £14416. The Wenceslas money sits inside the charity a/c and was £3908. 

These figures compare with 2022-23 figures of admin £649, activities £5456, and charity £10814. 

Policy on reserves- keep enough by for contingencies, in each of the bank accounts, according to the possible needs of each account.The club’s activities require no fixed levels of funds. 

## Public benefit statement - 

The trustees have read through the Charity Commission trustee guidance document called    “The Essential Trustee what you need to know’. The trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Commission in exercising their powers or duties. 

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects-** 

Family Fun Day in Buckingham park is an annual feature, a big asset for the community and our biggest fundraiser. Christmas Santa and sleigh collections from streets, helped by local groups such as local scouts. Donations to many [mostly] local charitable organisations. Wenceslas Project running well, whereby funds are used to help the energy accounts of particular people in need according to three trusted referrers. A grant of £5k from Sussex Community Foundation provides almost all of the funding for Wenceslas. Local food banks, Shoreham and Adur Community Food Bank, and Adur Community Gateway Hub at Fishersgate, are given about £200 worth of groceries each month bought from Club funds. 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year-** 

Many local organisations have benefited from our generous donations. 

The largest donations were to -   Project Wenceslas clients £7696, Local food-banks £4587, regular local donations £2200, 3rd Southwick Girls’ Brigade summer campsx2 = £2000, Golf Day for Brain Tumour Research £1227.
