Charity trustee selection methods for 2019/20 onwards —   Seven ex-officio, i.e. president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, 2nd vice-president, immediate past president, and membership officer. 

Summary of objects of the charity are set out in its governing document- To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs. 

Financial review - 

There are 3 accounts - admin, activities, and charity. 

At the end of the Lions year 2021-22 the bank balances were admin £627, activities £3431, and charity £8354. 

These figures compare with 2020-21 figures of admin £970, activities £3241, and charity £5339. Fund-raising is down because of Covid-19 causing the cancellation of big fund-raising events. 

Policy on reserves- keep enough by for contingencies, in each of the bank accounts, according to the possible needs of each account.The club’s activities require no fixed levels of funds. 

## Public benefit statement - 

The trustees have read through the Charity Commission trustee guidance document called    “The Essential Trustee what you need to know’. The trustees have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Commission in exercising their powers or duties. 

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects-** 

Christmas Santa and sleigh collections from streets, helped by local groups such as Sea Cadets; donations to many [mostly] local charitable organisations. Project Wenceslas began, whereby donations received from people wishing to donate for example their winter heating allowance is used to help the energy accounts of particular people in need according to three trusted referrers. Local food banks, Shoreham and Adur Community Food Bank, and Gateway Hub at Fishersgate, are given about £150 worth of groceries each month bought from Club funds. 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year-** 

Many local organisations have benefited from our generous donations. 

The largest donations were to -   Project Wenceslas clients £3938, Local food-banks £3012, Ukraine Crisis Appeal £2423, Golf Day for Brain Tumour Research £1381, Lions Wildfire and Flood Appeal £500, two nebulisers for Worthing Hospital £380.
