Purposes and Aims:
Our charity’s purpose is to:

Benefit members of the public living with cancer who are having or have had treatment for their disease

Make the lives of cancer patients easier by sending them a bag of luxury treats, chosen to mitigate the side effects of chemotherapy and other cancer treatments
The aims of our charity are to reach as many cancer patients as possible in the UK, to make their lives more comfortable and to feel supported. Also to create an easy way for patients’ friends and family to show their support.
We send out by post or hand over in person beautiful “Treatment Bags” which are linen bags filled with luxurious, relevant treats specifically chosen to help mitigate the side effects of treatment for cancer.
Structure:
The charity is managed day to day by two trustees/volunteers and one paid, self-employed, member of staff from offices in Somerset and Dorset, UK.
The member of staff’s responsibilities include wrapping gifts, answering email enquiries, managing and fulfilling bag requests, giving out and posting bags and liaising with and delivering bags to Yeovil Hospital.
Bags can be ordered through the charity’s website www.treatmentbag.co.uk
The trustees spend their time:

approaching companies to see if they would like to donate relevant goods for the bags – either for free or at ‘trade’ price
-
wrapping items and assembling bags
-
considering marketing strategies to increase reach
-
increasing brand awareness through social media and other channels
-
managing marketing communications such as the website and emailers
During the year, there were three main wrap days, where fourteen unpaid volunteers met to wrap the contents of the bags.
The trustees have regular meetings to discuss the management and progression of the charity.
Management:
The day to day running of the charity involves marketing, managing bag requests and donations, distributing bags by post and by hand.
We give up some free bags each month to other cancer-related charities - Something to Look Forward to , and The Cancer Club , a charity set up specifically for men with cancer.
This year we have given for free:

X24 bags to The Cancer Club
We have also given for free:
X100 bags to Yeovil Hospital
Bags are also offered once monthly free through social media (Instagram and Facebook).
Fund raising:
Funds have been raised by:

a) private individuals making private donations

b) private individuals completing sponsored/organised activities

c) private individuals ordering bags for their friends/family
Expenditure:
Expenses are items within the bags, packaging and postage, as well as printed materials, cost of the running of the website and commission fees to Paypal and Stripe.
Achievements:
During this year of trading the charity was able to send out and give away 274 bags – 146 Original Bags, 78 Man Bags and 50 Mini Bags.
Objectives:
Our objectives are:

to give away for free more bags to cancer patients via the NHS in hospitals in the South West of England

to increase income via donations and fundraising to cover the cost of giving away more bags for free

to send out more bags to cancer patients via the website

to reach more men, as donors and recipients of bags

to raise our profile so more people get to hear about Treatment Bag
