The Woodhams Stone CollecOon is a Charitable Incorporated OrganisaOon (CIO) governed by a ConsOtuOon based on the recommended CIO model and managed by a Board of Trustees.

Trustees are recruited from the local Community, usually as a result of people joining the pool of volunteers. However, publicity in the local press is also used to aAract interest from potenOal Trustees and Volunteers.

Charitable Objects:

The advancement of educaOon of the public in parOcular but not exclusively by the establishment of a museum housing the Woodhams Stone CollecOon for the benefit of the inhabitants of Malton and Norton Yorkshire and the general public.

Risk Management

The trustees have a risk management policy and supporOng procedures. The main elements of this are:

acOons to make a step change reducOon in our overheads. Going forward we will manage this risk via our reserves policy, maintaining sufficient funds to cover a full 12-month period of operaOng costs based on the planned unrestricted expenditure for the next budget year. This planned expenditure to include uOliOes (electricity, water, broadband) insurance and ‘trade’ subscripOons.

Charitable Objec;ves, Ac;vi;es and Achievements in 2024-25:

2 Buckrose Court Development Project

The 2023-2024 year had seen the CollecOon consolidated in the warehouse at 2 Buckrose Court – an iniOaOve made possible by a generous benefactor and one that delivered a significant reducOon in our overheads and means we can meet our basic running costs from our small income in the short to medium term.

Our strategy moving forward is to conOnue with our incremental approach to work on the building and we seek to uOlise small grants to gradually enhance the useability of the building. In this respect, small grant funding was used in the reporOng year to extend the electricity cabling (allowing us to improve lighOng and sockets) and install an alarm system.

The end objecOve is to re-establish a permanent display space and an area for volunteers to work, albeit on a small scale.

Public Engagement

have focussed on bringing the CollecOon to the public through increased outreach acOviOes:

In addiOon, we conOnued our website and social media acOviOes:

Private donaOons to fund the conOnuing development of the Heritage Trails.

Arts Council England Accredita=on

‘Working towards AccreditaOon’ status retained

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malton Museum

The principles in the draj MoU were used as the framework to work with trustees and volunteers at Malton Museum to design a joint exhibiOon focussed on the pubs and brewing industry in Malton.
