The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025.  The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Requirements applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015). 

## **ASSOCIATION INFORMATION** 

Honiton Town Community Football and Sports Association is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation - Registered number: 1177277. 

Honiton Town Community Football and Sports Association includes the funding and operation of Honiton Town Youth Football Club, a Charter Standard football club affiliated with Devon FA offering coaching and competitive football for young persons aged between 5 and 18. The Trustees oversee the financial and strategic direction of the charity with support of the operation of the Youth Football Club through a management committee which (in addition to the Trustees) includes an appointed Football Club Secretary, Child Welfare Officer, registered FA Football Coaches and other volunteers. 

All Football Coaches are (as a minimum) FA Level 1 qualified with relevant First Aid, Safeguarding and enhanced background checks. All other volunteers working with children have enhanced background checks conducted prior to unsupervised working with children. The Charity has a Child Welfare Policy and appointed Child Welfare Officer, and all Members (Children and Adults) of the Youth Football Club are regularly reminded of responsibilities for maintaining a safe environment for young people. 

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** 

- To promote community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for the playing of association football and other sports capable of improving health ("Facilities" means land, building, equipment and organising sporting activities); 

- To provide and assist in providing facilities for sport, recreation or other leisure time occupation of such persons who have need for such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity, disability, financial hardship, or social and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the interest of social welfare and within the object of improving their conditions or life; and 

- To advance the education of children and young people 

## Plans for the future 

To continue to build on our existing achievements and performance, and to continue to lobby the Local Council and Sport Governing Bodies to assist with securing additional facilities for the Charity. 

## **Public Benefit** 

We continue to strive to maintain the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit, as evidenced as follows: 

- Provision of Youth Football facilities and equipment for the community 

- Provision of weekly football coaching for young persons aged 5 to 16 from FA qualified coaches within the local area. 

- Participation in local football leagues (both competitive and non-competitive) for young persons aged 5 to 16 within the local area. 

- Hosting of an annual Youth Football Tournament attracting over 1600 participants aged 7 to 16 and their families. 

The above activities benefit young people by developing their physical and mental wellbeing, their selfconfidence and life skills, their teamwork and providing opportunities for young people to become volunteers themselves. We welcome all young people, aged between 5 and 18, regardless of personal background, faith, gender, or personal circumstances.

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** 

## Chairman's Report 

I am pleased to present this year's annual accounts, which capture another twelve months of dedication, resilience, and meaningful impact for Honiton Town Community Football and Sports Association. Behind the figures lies a story of unwavering commitment from Honiton Town Youth Football Club, whose efforts continue to be the heartbeat of everything we do. 

‑ Let me begin by addressing the issue that remains at the forefront of our ambitions: our long standing need for improved facilities. The constraints at St Rita’s are well documented, and I will not pretend otherwise. These limitations affect everything from training capacity and player safety to our ability to welcome new families into the club. For some time now, we have been pursuing a new facility as the only sustainable solution. I must report, with honesty, that our planning application remains unresolved. It is still tied up in the system, and we are yet to receive a decision from East Devon District Council. This delay has been deeply frustrating, particularly given the strength of our case and the overwhelming community need behind it. Despite this, we continue to engage actively with Officers, pressing them to recognise the urgency of our situation and to move towards a resolution. 

Alongside this, our day‑to‑day work has continued with the same passion and perseverance. Our volunteers, coaches, and officers have stepped up time and again, ensuring young people in our ‑ community continue to benefit from high quality sporting opportunities. 

On the pitch, this year has been another successful one for our youth teams. We have seen outstanding skill, strong teamwork, and a genuine commitment to the values we hold dear: sportsmanship, respect, and personal development. Our young players continue to grow not only as athletes but as individuals, and that is something of which we can all be immensely proud. These achievements remind us that, even without the facilities we aspire to, the spirit of this club remains as strong as ever. 

Off the pitch, we have focused on maintaining the quality and inclusivity of our programs. We have worked to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation, and we have continued to strengthen the sense of belonging that makes this club a vital part of our community. The relationships we build with families, schools, and local organisations remain fundamental to our identity. 

None of this would be possible without the continued generosity of our donors, sponsors, and partners. Their belief in our mission has provided stability during a period of uncertainty, allowing us to sustain our programs and keep our long‑term ambitions alive. 

Looking ahead, our resolve has not wavered. We remain as determined as ever to secure the facilities our young people deserve and to build a sustainable future for this club. The delays we have experienced have not diminished our ambition; if anything, they have strengthened it. I am confident that, with continued perseverance and the support of our community, we will ultimately achieve the vision we have held for so long. Our Charity will continue to be a beacon of opportunity and inspiration for young people across the region. 

Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our journey this year. From our volunteers and coaches to our donors, sponsors, and the families who entrust us with their children, your support has made a lasting difference. Together, you have enriched individual lives and strengthened the very heart of our community.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** 

## **Principal funding sources** 

The main income is generated from Memberships and Tournament Incomes, and Charity Donations and Sponsorship. The Association is also in receipt of Gift Aid. 

## **Recruitment and appointment of new Trustees** 

Apart from the first Charity Trustees, every Trustee is appointed for a term of two years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the Charity Trustees.

The charitable company is entitled to exemption from audit under Section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 for the year ended 31 August 2025.  The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2025 in accordance with Section 476 of the Companies Act 2006. 

The trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for: 

(a)   ensuring that the charity company keeps accounting records that comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and 

(b)  preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charitable company at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the charitable company. 

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to charitable companies subject to the small companies regime. The financial statements were approved by the Board of Trustees on 19[th] March 2026 and were signed on its behalf by:

## 1. **ACCOUNTING POLICIES** 

## **Basis of preparing the financial statements** 

The financial statements of the charitable company, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015); Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland ' and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. 

## **Income** 

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds; it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount can be measured reliably. 

## **Expenditure** 

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably, Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category, Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. 

## **Tangible fixed assets** 

Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life. Plant & Machinery - 15% on cost 

## **Stocks** 

Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items. 

## **Taxation** 

The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities. 

## **Fund accounting** 

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. 

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes. Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the financial statements. 

## **2. TRUSTEES' REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS** 

There were no trustees' remuneration or other benefits for the year ended 31 August 2025.
