The trustees present their report with the financial slalements of tha charity for the year ended
31 March 2026. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Rèporting by Charities:
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)
{8ff8Ctiv8 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objactlvès and alms
The objects of the CIO are to relieve the mental and physical sickness of people bereaved by sulclde
and those at risk of suicide by provision of counselling and support. To advance the education of
the public in all areas relating to suicide and suicide bereavement. in particular but nol exdusively
among health professionals and those who work with people bereav8d by suicide or al risk of suicide.
To meet the needs and break Ihe isolation of Ihose bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or
friend, by offering a safe confidential environment in which b8feaved people can sh8re thelr
experiences and feelings, consequently giving and gaining support from each oth8r. To promote
greater awareness for professionals to help them recognise the spe¢ifi¢ support required for those
b8r8av8d by suicide.
SL￿&mortt on Publlc Beneflt
The trusteas are aware of the Public Benefit provisions of the Charities Act 2011 and of the guidanc8
on them published by the Charity Commission. They are satisfied thal the objecls of the charity and
the activities of the ¢hartty are within thè definitions of Charitable Purposes set down in the A¢1. The
trustees are not aware of any public detriment caused by the charitys objects or activities, nor are
they aware of anyorte receiving private benefit from the charitys activities.
Grant maklng
The Charity is not a grant making charily and d08s not Invit8 grant applications.
Volunteers
The Charity have 8 team of volunteers that have assisted in the operations of the Charity. During
this period, volunteer roles have included adminislrative SUPFQrt. coordinaling sunshine boxes,
coordinating support packs. cleaning of our offices, support at our bereavement events and peer
facilitation of our bereavemenl groups. We also have a team of voluntaers as part of the fundraising
commlttee who plan and deliver all of the Sunflowers fundraising events.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charltable activities
The total donations received during the period totalled £169,929 wilh the remainiro income being
generated from the fees from events and talks £28,712 and grants of £205,794. The expenditure
totalled £385,698 resulting in the excess of receipts ovar payments of £7,05112025.' £17,711). The
Charity has claimed gift aid on donatbons during the period through CAF t)onate and Just Giving.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Principal funding sourcos
Sunflowers Suicide Support has had a successful financial year, maintaining the income seen in
2024. The charivs prinapal sources of inc¢)me remain div8rs8, including individual and Gorporat8
donations. restrided grants, and income generated from intemal fijndraising activities, training
sessions and community events. This funding diversity aligns with our strategic objects've to protect
the charity's future sustainability by reducing relian¢9 on any single income stream.
During the financial year 2025126, Sunflowers Sui¢ide Support received restricted income from
Summerfield Charitable Trust, Screwfix Foundation, Slonehouse Town Council, Ted Senior
Foundation, The Lapid Trust, SIB Reach Funding, The Doyle Carte Fund and Gloucestershire NHS
ICB. We also received a third inslalmenl from the National Lottery Community Fund 5-year funding.
and the first instalment of 3-year funding from the Barnwood Trust and the first instalment of &year
funding from Children in Need.
Our fundraising events, including Chase the Sun, Wing Walk, Ne￿OrkIng Evaning, Quiz Nights and
Do Not Be Alone Coffee Momings , generated over £22.370. This reflects the Commitment of our
volunteers and highlights the str8nglh of communty engagement with our cause.
Investment pollcy and obJ8ctlve8
The charity aims to balance accessibility with prudent financial stewardship. Most funds during
2025126 were held in an instant-acc8ss charity savings account to ensLAre availability of liquid assets
and generate maximum bank inter8st income. To optirnise retums while managing risk, a portion of
our funds w8r8 transf8rr8d to a Charity Notice account in 2025126. This move was to allow us to
secure hlgh8r Interest rates while spreading risk across multiple financial institutions.
The Charity has had a period of growth and has increased the investsment of funds in the operatsons
of the Charity to develop infrastructure and manp)w8r in accordance with the increasing demand11

Reserves pollcy
Sunflowers Suicide Support holds unrestricted reserves to énsure financial stsbility, protect core
services, and support sustainable growth. The charity's policy is to maintain reserves within
prudent range that reflects both operational needs and strategic ambitions.
The Trustees have set a reserves target equivalent to be￿n three and six months, core running
costs {CU￿entlY £114,224 - £228,449). This range is designed to prowde a safaty net in the event of
unexpected income loss, while allowing sufficient time to implement recovery strategies.
A proportion of reserves had been and continue lo be designated for strategic initiatives aimed at
enhancing the charitrfs long-temi capacity. Investments indude improvements to IT systems and
safeguarding process8s. expansion of fundraising ¢apabilit18s. relocation to new offices to meet
service demand, and stsff development. These initiats'vas are difficult lo fund through grants and
demonstraté Sunflowers, commitment to using reserves lo strengthen infrastructure and sustain
service delivèry.
As of the year-end, the charity holds £137,779 in unrestricted reserves. This is within the target range
and reflects the Trustees, confidence in the charitys diversified funding basè and financial resilience.

The Trustees consider the current level of reserves to be appropriate and responsible. supporting
both the immediate continuity of services and the charity's future development. This approach
8nsures that Sunflowers remains resilient, adaptable. and capable of meeting the growing need for
suicide prevention and bereavement support across the region.
Summary of the flnanclal year
In 2025126, Sunflowers maintained the significant flnancial and service growth experienc8d in
2024125. Total incom8 was ££403,095, driven by growth in grant funding and continued individual
donations, event incom8. and bank interest.
The expenditure in 2025126 was £396.044. reflecting strategic investrnent in staffing, infrastructure,
and Servi￿ delivery in response to increased demand. A modesl surplus of £7,051 was aGhieved.
Our year-end reserves of £239,859, of which £170.000 are unrestrided. d8monstrate a sound
financial position. A portion of these r9serv8s is already allocated lo core development work as
outlined in our strategic plan. While the tharity has grown. the Trustees remain mindful of rising
osts-particularly staff salaries-and the need for sustained income lo maintain this positive tralectory
confidence
We continuè to activèly fundraise to meet the 2026127 funding requirement of £458,898, with a focus
on unrestricted overheads, core services and programme delivery. Th8 Trustees afe confident that
our strong 2025126 performance, robust reserves policy, and rèvis8d funding strategy will reassure
current and prospective supporters of Sunflowers, capacity to dèlivèr high-impact, financially
sustainable services.
FisfuRE PLANS
After making appropriate enquiries. the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has
adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason.
they continue to adopt the going concem basis in preparing the financial statements.

Thg charity is contrdled by its goveming document, and is an incorporated charity. The Sunflowers
Suicide Support was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charity on 21 February 2018.
Recrultmant and appolntment of n8W trustees
New trustees, appointments are shown under the trustees, delails sedion. Any new trustees are
invited by agreement of the èxisting trustees having due regard to the skills, knowledge and
experience requir8d for the effectiv8 administration of the Charity.
Organisatlonal structurè
There are currently six trustees and approximately thirty charity volunteers. The organisational
structure of the Gharity is suGh that long ierm strategic decisions are made during regular trustees.

volunteers.
Induction and trainlng of new trustggs
Any new Iruslees are introduced lo the Charity Commission trustee guidelines and are provided with

updated on the background of the Charity, operalion framéwork, and its objectives.

I report lo the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Sunflowers Suicide Support (the
Trust) for the year ended 31 March 2026.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the ACV).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act
and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity
Commission under Section 145{5Mb) of the Act.
Indepandent examiner's statament
Sinc8 your charity's gross income exceeded £250.000 your examiner must be a member of a listed
body. I can confirm that l am qualified to undertake the examination because l am a member of the
Association of Chartered Certified A¢¢ounlants. which is one of Ihe listed bodies.

Basis of preparlng the financial statsments
The financial statements of the Gharity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102. havè
been prepared in accordan￿ with Ihè Charities SORP IFRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting
by Charities.. Statement of Recornmended Practice applicable to tharities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial RetN)rting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).. Financial Reporting Standard 102
The Financial Reportlng Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland, and the
Charities Act 2011. Th8 financial statements have been prepared undor the historical cost
convention.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the tharity has
entit18m8nt to the funds, it is probable that the income will be re¢8iV8d and the amount can be
measured reliably.
Expendlturo
Liabilities are recognised as expenditu￿ as soon as ttiere is a legal or constructive obligation
committing the Gharity lo that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of e¢onomic benefits

Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basi5 and has been dassified under headings
