The ch u rch is motlV3ted by the conviction that m3 n's greatest need is to be reconci led to
God, through personal faith in his Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and reliance on his
redeem i ng sacrifice. Therefore a su bstantial p3 rt of the ch u rch's work is the provision of
religious activitiesfor all, to make known the Good News of Jesus Christ,to encour3ge
people to committheir lives to him,to offerGod praise and worship, to provide
instruction and encouragement in the Christian f31th for recent and more mature
believers, and to provide opportunityfor prayer, for mutual support, and for Christian
service.
The church believes that an integral part of the committed Christian life is a care forthe
surrounding community. The Lord Jesus in his earthly ministry showed loving concern
for all types of people and their needs- includingchildren, the bereaved, the sick in body
or mind, the poor, and thoseoutside mainstream society, and the church believesthat a
similar concern is mandated for his followerstoday. Therefore, alongside its primarily
religious activitiesthe church carries out 3 numberdesigned to supportthe wider
community in someway, in particular through the relief of poverty and promotion of
mental hea Ith.

Looking back over anotheryear, the church must give thanks to God for his faithfulness and
abundant goodness. Everyyear in a church's life 15 a story of thatf31thfulness and goodness
on displayon the collectivejourneythrough triumphs and tragedies, encouragements 3nd
challenges. In and through it all,the church has seen the hand of God, and experienced his
never-f3iling presence. confirmingthe reality of Philippians 1..6-the church's'verse forthe
year, back in 2021 nowdisplayed on theauditorium wall-
'Being confident of this, that he who began a good work inyou Lvill carry it on to completion
until the day of Chri5tJesus.
In his mercy, God has begun a good work in the church and its individual member5. Hewill
continue thatwork of building his kingdom, and he'll strengthen the church community
enabling it to play its part in thatwork until the daythe Lord Je5U5 returns. Sometimes a
season in 3 church's lifefeelsfull of setb3cks,while at othertimesthere is a sense of making
great strides forward. More often than not itfeels somewhere in the middlel And yetthe
hidden reality is that God is building his kingdom, continuing that great workalready begun.
Throughouttheyear reminder5 of those truths have given the encouragementto keep on
serving God's mission here in Flitwick and the Surrounding area.
In continuingto servethe church throughouttheyearthe elders and staff team have had the
joy of partnering together. The staff team consisted of three throughout the year, meeting
weeklyto reflect on the Sunday services, plan ahead forthe comingweek, and discuss and
prayfor the various pastoral need5 Wlthin the fellowship. Theteam was prepared for change
as Neil Scott's three-year contract was due to end in June 2024,. that change occurred sooner
th3n expected when he stepped down from pastoral ministry in April 2024 (after the
reporting period but before th is report being written). The elders met at least monthly
throughout theye3r and have been a blessingto one another in thetask of shepherdin8this

community, King s Church 15 taking on an increasingly prominent identity and its name is
more easily recognised. A God-given spirit of unity madethose changes possible back in 2021,
with the benefits now being enjoyed.

The elders a nd 5t3ff team have continued to express God's love and ca re, pa rticula rly to those in
the church family who experience specif ic needs and 5truggles.Tha nks are owed to the many

The elder and staff teams spend m uch time together in prayer for the church family- not only for
the physica I needs and struggles being faced, but for Spiritual hea Ith a nd growth. In 311 these

One of the privileges of bei n8 part of a lovi ng ch u rch fam ily is to rejoice with those who

It is always 3n encouragement when people wantto di5playtheir love for God's people by

Four members resigned, and following amendments to the Church Handbook eight members

A learning community
"They devoted themselves to the ap05tle5' teaching ' (Act5 2.-42)
Sunday gatherings remain central to life as a community, worshipping God together and
hearing him speakthrough his word. Gratitude is dueto those who have continued to Use
their gifts in servingthe church duringthose gatherings- service leaders, worship leaders,

Home Groups have continued through theyear, continuingto followthe Sunday morning
preaching, giving opportunityto share encouragements 3nd applythe preached word to life.
These groups also provide the spacefor relationships to deepen in pr3yingtogether and
showingcare for one another. Itwould be good to see more member5 of the church family
meaningfully engaged with a home group, and the elders consequently wantto encourage
people totake up the opportunity ofjoining a group and experiencingthejoy of sharing life

A serving community
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be Served, but to Serve, and to give his life as 3
ransom for many. ' (Mark 10..45)
The church is indebted tothe huge number of volunteers who serve faithfully3nd
sacrificiall* some in very obvious way5, and many much less obvious. When everyone pulls
togetherwith a common vision and purpose, giving of themselves and usingtheir skills and
gifts, it is often the casethat God pours out his blessin& something experienced this past
year.
There are nevertheless and inevitably identifiable gap5 in many ministryteams. While those
who are currently serving on those team5 do sofaithfully and energetically, they must not be
allowed to become burnt out. Over the course of the year, it became evident that many of the
children's and youth group5 were struggling forvolunteers, and several leaders expressed a
wish to stand down. The elders were led by God to the conviction of a need to invest in a staff
roleto take on the leadership of the children's and youth ministries, to provide a coherent
vision forthis area of ministry and to recruit, train and supportvolunteers and leaders. After
members 3greed to create the role, the recru itment process concl Ljded with the elders
recommending Reece Gordon's appointment as Children's and Youth Ministries Leader
{CYMLI. This proposal was 3ffirmed by members in May 2024, 3nd he will t3ke up the role in
July 2024.
There have been changes in the leadership of the Elev83 Elev8 Minri, and Need Project
ministries, and the church is grateful tothose leaving and totheir successors.

A witnessing community
"Butyou will receive power when the Holyspirit comes onyou,. andyou will be my

There have been several significantopportunities to share something of the good news of
Jesus with the local communitythis p3Styear-
On E35ter Sunday 3 pancake brea kfast, Easter egg hu nt 3 nd celebration service welcomed dozens
of non-church people i n, i ncludi ng some who now regularly attend on sundays.
A Fa m Ily Fu n Day i n June 2023, which w35 extremely wel l attended and provided a n opportunity to

Carols in the Town Square a nd Ca rols by Candlelight were both extremely popular with the
comm unity, a nd a clear Gospel message wa5 heard at each event.
In addition to those one-off events, the usual routi ne of chu rch l ife has provided regu la r
opportunities to build connections with the community, and share the Christ13n me55age. The
r3nge of children's and youth groups means that everyyoung person in Flitwick can hear
aboutJesus.TheCafé6 and King s Senior57 have gone from strength to strength this pastyear,
building meaningful relationships with people in thetown.
The Need Project8 has continued to provide essential supportto the neediest in local society,
as a means of demonstrating the love of Jesus in a practical way.
The chu rch h3s sought to strengthen ties with loca I schools with opportu n ities to take school
assemblies, and was delighted to welcomethe whole of Kingsmoor Lower School into the
church for a Christingle service in the run-uptochristmas. There were also some smallerc13SS
visits for RE lessons looking at why and how the church worships, and the meaningof
baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Links with the town of Flitwick itself have continued to grow strongerwith a deepening
relationship with both the Mayor and the newvicar at the parish church. Consequently, Tim
Diaper was involved in the Civic Service in September and was also invited to give a brief
Gospel message 3t the town's Remembrance Service in November, attended by more than
1,000 people.
The church's support, both prayerful and financial, forthe following external mi55ion p3rtners
has continued-
