The trustees have opted, under section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Charities Act’), to prepare receipts and payments account ## **Objectives and Aims** The charity's objects as set out in the charity's Trust Deed are to advance the Christian religion through the provision of worship and prayer gatherings primarily, but not exclusively, in Cornwall. The strategies employed to achieve the charity’s aims and objectives are to organise extended worship gatherings, linking with local churches with a focus on spontaneous, spacious and prophetic worship. ## **Public benefit** The Trustees have considered the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit and consider that the activities of the charity meet its charitable objectives and provide a benefit to the public. ## **Volunteers** The charity relies on voluntary help for the organisation and running of its conferences. Over the past 12 months, over 30 volunteers have taken part in these sessions. ## **Achievement and Performance Charitable activities** Worshipping Friends’ hope and vision is to see people from all nations loving God on earth as it is in heaven, night and day, 24/7, practising the Greatest Commandment together with many coming to know the love of Jesus through the revelation of His love and glory. 2022 - 2023 was Worshipping Friends’ fifth year as a registered charity and was a slightly different year to others. We gathered to minister to God but the pace and frequency of our gatherings differed this year as our community celebrated weddings, births and with that a focus on family time. We kicked off 2022 with a month of worship, two hours of worship everyday for 31 days, navigating the remaining covid guidance and restrictions. We then went on to gather regularly in living rooms and prayer rooms for the first few months of the year. A highlight of this year was 15 hours of worship at a farm in Brentor near Tavistock. Worshipping Friends’ first residential weekend where worshippers from across the South West came stayed in various accommodation on site including static caravans, tents and the farm house. We worshipped for 15 hours over the weekend, enjoying Him and enjoying great food together. Another highlight was worshipping before the wedding of a Worshipping Friends musician who has been involved since we began as a charity. What a celebration to see God’s hand and blessing in the lives of those we journey with. Since Worshipping Friends became a registered charity in 2018 we have worshipped for approximately 1,523 hours which is an average of 305 hours a year or 6 hours a week. As we have grown in God this year, we feel a deep excitement for what will await us in 2023. To play our part in covering this nation in worship and prayer and seeing worship on earth as it is in heaven all for God’s glory. **WORSHIPPING FRIENDS** ## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES for the year ended 28[th] February 2023** ## **Currently we are planning the following for 2023:** - Extended gatherings of praise and worship i.e. 2+ hrs, around the county and throughout the nation. - Responsive gatherings at key dates like New Year etc. - Cultivating and building relationships with worshippers throughout Cornwall and beyond. - Exploring how to incorporate family life into our gatherings a little more. - The writing of new songs. - Sharing and speaking on our heart for His worship on earth. ## **Financial review** Income from grants and donations in the fifth year was £12,9836 (2022: £13,210) and expenditure £5,481 (2022: £12,630) leaving a surplus for the year of £7,502 (2022: 580) ## **Reserves policy** The trustees consider the reserves held at the yearend to be sufficient for the ongoing needs of the charity. Total Unrestricted Reserves held at 28[th] February 2023 was £8,044 ## **Structure, Governance and Management** ## **Governing document** The Charity is governed by Trust Deed dated 15[th] February 2018 and is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Trustees are appointed by seeking people with relevant skills and experience. Sarah Ewen, Chair ## **WORSHIPPING FRIENDS** ## **Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Worshipping Friends** I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Worshipping Friends (the Trust) for the year ended 28[th] February 2023. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act'). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner's statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. ## **Accounting Policies** ## **Basis of preparing the financial statements and assessment of going concern** The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern.
