Stafflng Update
Our new part-tlme administrator Is well establlshed and embedded In the team and she
continue5 to add much to the team and the organlsatlon through her extenslve skllls and
experience in both education and local church leadershlp.
We have added a new part-time sthools worker to the team wlth extensive skills and
experlence In SEND, theatre and schools work. She has been involved with CSCW as a
volunteer In her prevlous employment so was able to transltlon Into her C5CW role
extremely qulckly and effectfvely. Her 5k1115 contribute to both prlmary and high school
settings wlth opportunltie5 developing throughout the year. Her addltlon to the team and
organlsation has been slgnlficant and the trustees are explorln8 further fundlng to offer
more renumeratlon.
There Is a contlnued need to f(KUS on developlng, training and equlpplng new volunteers as
the demands continue to grow so are excited about the Essential youthwork training. We
are looklng forward to contlnulng to serve and support puplls, staff and whole school
communities, through promoting the personal and splritual wellbelng of chlldren and young
people in Chester in a varlety of ways.

Revlew of the Year
Prlmar Schools Worker Re
ort
It has been an excitin8 and busy year in our local Prlmary Schools. Andy has le(J team5 who
provlde Collectfve Worshlp in 5 Schools each week, meeting over 900 pupils, and 5 schools
on 3 monthly basls meeting around 750 puplls. Andy continues to support local churches
who go into their local schools meeting similar numbers of puplls.
We also saw a 8rowth In the number of Prayer Spaces delivered, Including one new school,
and more in the schools we were already In. Feedbatkffom the puplls showed well over
90% of them found It helpful and gave them a chance to think and rellect on the topic
chosen by the school.
Our annual Year 6 transltlon project, Movlng On, contlnues to be a valuable tool to support
the excellent work schools are already dolng. We delivered the sesslon to around 1000 Year
65, Includln8 one school we hadn't been Into for over 10 years. As well as the Year6 sÈsslon,
we helped out at 2 of our local Hlgh Schools w5th thelr summer school, whlch was almed at
the Year 6s to help with the transition to Hlgh School. At one of the schools, we ran a
workshop whkh bullt on the work we weie already dolng. It was the only workshop that
every learner attended and went down very well wlth learners and school pastoral staff who
were In attendance. As the school has a wlder catchment area than Just Chester, It was
good to meet some new Year 65 who we hadn't previously met and also to provlde them
w5th a book as they hadn't had our Movlng On session.
Looking ahead to the next academlc year. we already have a new school to start monthly
Collectlve Worshlp, and at least one of our schools we ale already In, have shown Interest In
Prayer Spaces whlch Is excltlng.
HI h 5¢hools Re
ort
from Team Leader
Another more settled academic year benefltlng from the addltlon of a new part-tSmÈ
admlnlstrator and another new schools worker from September. Throughout the year we
have dellvered several ongoing projects as well as reestabllshlng projerts In another hlgh
school, facllitating young people to develop reslllence, belng encouTa8ed and achieving
incredible success In many areas. With the addition of anotherschools worker, we have
seen additional projects successfully embed In schools includlnB addltional support in Cu's
s well as a brand new creatlve, theatre-based project- CREATE- whlch Is run after school
weekly. Over the year we have conttnued to support schools as an Independent
Llstenerlmentor, been a resource and lead for Chrlstièn Unions and helped run Prayer and
Reflectlon Spaces. We have dellvered engaglng and approprlate healthy relatlonshlp and sex
educatton through the RSE currlculum, dellvered en8a8ing and aEe-appropriate assemblies,
facllltated several rounds of the Klntsugl Hope Mental Wellbelng Group and been a key lead
In clty-wide youth events.
The KintSU8i Hope groups have continued in the newer format throughout the year wlth 13
groups1130 students) and we contfnued to seek to dellver thls much needed support in the
m05t Impactful way. eg we worked wlth the school to release the puplls for I full day and

covered key toplcs wlth 8reater depth of conversatlon and relationship in maklng a blgger
positlve Impact on thelr wellbelng. We are deli8hted to see the work continue to develop
close Ilnks wlth school pastoral support and act 35 a signpost to other school support.
The development and support of Chrlstlan Unlons and lunchtime safe spaces contlnues to
be an Important need wSth a weekly space offerlng a safe space to dlscuss and explore faith
as well as find support for day to day life. Our alm tontinues to be to respond to the needs
of young people and Dffer these spaces throughout Chester schools.
Prayer and reflectlon spaces were delivered to 400 pupils thls year Includlng a new
Immersive experience fur Year 9,5, utilising Silent Dlsco equipment. The overall feedback
from all reflethon spaces is ppsitive Including those from the Chrlstlan falth, other faiths and
no falth.
We dellvered RSE lessons to support the PSHE currltulum to over 10(10 students from Year 7
Year 11. We reestab115hed connectlons and RSE delivery In another high school and have
several lessons already planned for the comlng academlc year. The feedback from students
and staff Is extremely poslilve wlth monltor5ng showlng a hlgh increase in learners
understandlng core objectlves of the lesson.
There have been several weeks of assemblles dellvered at Chrlstmas and throughout the
year with more already booked for the comlng academlc year.
The clty-wlde youth events contlnue to brlng young people from dlfferent schools and
congregations together to equlp and encourage youn8 people in thelr falth, Darren
continues to partner wlth Chester youthworkers to lead the monthly network meetln8 and
the monthly youth event, *thX" as well as contrlbuting to city-wlde, misslon-focused
events and a lolnt youth weekend away. aty-wide youth events are planned for the comln8
year {includlng a youth weekend away In October) and we are explorln8 facllltatin8 after
School drop In cafes wlth church partners. We have also seen an Increase In volunteers from
partner churches wlth a need to glve them svfficlent tralnlng. As such, we have trained to
dellver the Youthscape Essential trainlng next year having had a hlgh level of Interest at an
Informauon evenin8 In July.
We have also become a partner organlsation of the children, youth and families alliance-
part of Cheshlre West VoluntaryAction which Is helping to develop our presence and
awareness of the organlsatEon as well as help to signpost to others. We are hoplng thls
partnership develops to benefit the chlldren and young people In our local school
communliles.
We are seekln8 to contlnue to support those most In need throuBh partnershlp wlth schools
and doln8 all we can to Inspire HOPE and Unlock POTENTIAL In the Ilves of our amazing
young people In Chester.

Schools, worker re ort
This past academlc year has been full of excltlng opportunlties, contlnued development of
existln8 clubs and sesslon and new relatlonshlps belng formed wlth schools and
orBanlsation5 across the clty. We have seen God on the move wlthln our work thls year and
we are expectant of what wlll come next. Below15 some categorlsed overvlews and
hlghllghts of the past ac8demlc year.
Lunch Clubs
Continuln8 to work in schools In this wayls a joy and such a prfvlle8e. At Upton Hlgh School.
we spent muth of the academic year supportin8 upper slxth form students as the prepared
for and dealt with the hlghs, lows, and pressures of exam season. It was good to be able to
offer a safe space where they could have conversations about what was happenln8, offload.
Issue5 and spend tlme stepplng out of busy schedules. As we began to pray and thlnk about
what the club would look Ilke as they move on from educatSon, we were met wlth the
opportunlty to welcome some year nSne students into the space. This has been an excltlng
development where a group of young people have come together for games, chat, and
debate about Important15sues of Ilfe and falth. More recently, the group have been able to
expand and be used by puplls frorn other year groups and we continue to explore the best
way of hostiDg thls space at Upton Hlah.
Pulse, at Bishops, contfnues to be a great space In thelr chaplalncy programme. It Is a space
for good conversatfon, a big question each week and someilmes an opportunlty to share a
thought for the week. It is also a good meetin8 point for other actlvltles we are Involved In
throughout school.
Afterschool Clubs
I have been runnlng 'Create' afterschool club for the past 8 months at 8i5hops Hlgh School.
It Is an amazln8 space where crea￿VIty meets faFth, and we can tackle some Important
topScs through the accesslble lens of theatre. In the past summer term, we created a short
fllm 'llfe In all Its fulness, together to explore what It realty looks Ilke to Ilve Ilfe fully as
someone who Is known and loved by our creator. It opened great conversatlons and
brou8ht fresh Ideas. Thls new academlc year we will be explorlng 'words are powerful. and
have been Sncluded In the large carol servlce run by the school at the cathedral to perform
an orlginal spoken word together. The 8roup Is well attended by Indivlduals from year 7-10
and It Is a cooperatlve space to explore falth.
Ethos team and Sthool Support
Thls past academic year I have been able to start working alongside Dodle5ton Primary
School asslstlng wlth thelr eth05 group and helplng to prepare and run prayer and
splrltuallty day. We ran a 'refu8ee prayer and awareness, day In the summer term that used
prayer spaces, theatre and craft to help the learners engage In prayer and Blble storles. As
we have started this year, the school have welcomed a new head, and It has been 8reat to
be Invlted back in and be workln8 towards an 'expeflence Chrlstmas, event In partnershlp
with the school and local church.
A new opportunlty that has a150 arlsen thls year has been to work wlth Dee Banks School
where they offer speclalist educatlon to those wlth neurodiverslty and learnin8 dlsabillties.
We wlll be exploilng how we can help them dellvey sectlons of thelr PSHE work In a school

where all work pre currlculum level. We wlll be uslng theatre practlces to ald our work
movingforward,
Assemblles
Although it15 not a large part of my work, this past year I have been Involved wlth
assemblles at Upton High School and Blshops High School. Asslstlng wlth the Chrlstmas
assembltes has been a 8reat opportunity and worklng wlthln a team to do this has been
great. I was also able to support at Blshops High wlth thelr world book day assemblles wlth
an opportunity to talk about the Ilnk between storytelling and falth.
Prayer 5pa¢es
It ha5 been great to be Involved wlth the prayer spaces at Bishops Hlgh School especially
havlng an opportunlty to try uslng dlfferent resources to run the spaces. U51ng the
headphones to offer an Immerslve experlence meant we could approach prayer spaces
dlfferentlyi especlally wlth some of the older learners In School.
Extra EventslWorkshops/ Neurodlverslty,
One of the hlghllghts of thls past year has been the opportunity to be Involved In the
Nuerodlvelrsty pathway research proJect In partnershlp wlth CWVA, We are hoplng to run
the workshops and Interviews in schools which we hope wlll not only been a great
opportunlty to strengthen our relatlonshlps with schools but also beneflt and Inform our
work wlth those chlldren and young people with Nuerosdlversity.
Involvement In the splrltuallty day for Sixth form at Bishops thls last academic year was an
excltlng opportunlty to contlnue to use creativity, spe¢lfically through spoken work, to help
young people thlnk about thelr falth.
Mycontlnued Involvement In YfHX, partner church work and supportlng local youth
worker5 Is always a Soy and working so closely In partnershlp wlth other organ1sa￿OnS and
Indivlduals wlshlng to have a p051tlve and klngdom Impact on Chester Is excltlng.
