Objectives and Activities

The objects of the CIO are to advance the education of and to relieve persons with slight to moderate learning disabilities aged 18 and over or assist in the provision of facilities for recreational or other leisure time occupation.

The primary objective of Club 25 is to provide a social environment for beneficiaries with a mild to moderate learning disability in order to advance enhance their quality of life.

The club’s main activity is a Wednesday evening social gathering at Birkdale Labour Club where members enjoy a disco, games of pool and social interaction. Further activities include barge trips, a summer barbecue as well as Halloween and Christmas parties.

The trustees and club volunteers alike are aware that the club’s function and funds are for the benefit of members.

Achievements and Performance

Club 25 provides a safe and caring environment which promotes self-confidence, friendship and social interaction for its members within the club and the wider community. It also promotes awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by its members within the wider community of Sefton through participation in local competitions such as the club pool team joining a local league.

Financial Review

The club has a reserve of approximately £9,032 which will enable further leisure activities to be undertaken. Club 25 benefited from a legacy donation of £300 from Christine, sister of trustee Sue Madani. Subs taken from members showing slight recovery post COVID lockdowns.
