UK Heritage Aviation Trust Charitable Incorporated Organisation Chairman's Report for the year ending 31st March 2021
Running a charity with an ambitious project such as ours via public support and donations can be difficult at the best of times. We were looking forward to a year of further fundraising, being able to conduct a survey on G-CEXP and securing a home for UKHAT. Unfortunately Covid19 was to dash a lot of our plans for the majority of this financial year. In the grips of a major world wide pandemic we have had to put on hold a structural survey of the aircraft until further notice and as we were to find out all air shows and public events cancelled fundraising became very difficult. So it was another slow year for the charity whilst we continued to try to secure a home not only for Handley Page Dart Herald G-CEXP but also for a small museum. Though later into 2021 we were able to announce that we had secured a home at Sellindge in Kent.
As an organisation we operate very lean, What we mean by this is that the Trustees and volunteers contribute their input on a voluntary basis, with no salaries for their time, we will always endeavour to keep costs to a minimum thus turning a good proportion of funds raised into looking after a future home and the collection within.
Projecting forward into 2021/22 we will continue to work towards being able to dismantle and rehome Herald G-CEXP currently at Gatwick airport and raise funds not only for this task but also for her restoration.
